Reebok Classic and multi-platinum selling Top Dawg Entertainment artist Kendrick Lamar are back at it with a new capsule. To kick off 2017, Kendrick has dressed a tennis classic, the Club C, in a unique style.
According to Reebok, the sneaker focuses on the themes of anonymity and abstraction, drawn directly from his latest album, all while calling for unity. Kendrick has never shied away from speaking on race and social injustice, and this Club C celebrates his ability to create provocative art with a message.
Commenting on the design, Kendrick said, “Now more than ever it is important for individuals to come together as one. This sneaker represents that call for unity and equality, while also pushing people to look beneath the surface and uncover the hidden messages. This is something I try to do with my music, and now here with the Club C.”
Each detail on the sneaker contributes to the larger overall design: the acid-washed denim and dash heel elements evoke mystery, while the black and white pattern represent equality within society and unity. The red label and heel details symbolize power, strength, passion — all things associated with Kendrick and his music. The purposefully hidden branding represents anonymity and forces people to look beyond the surface, another theme drawn directly from his latest album. Only the tongue’s interior features any branding. Finally, the “k” and “o” details on the quarter logo windows echo Kendrick’s nickname: KDot.

The Reebok Classic x Kendrick Lamar Club C Capsule launches January 13 in both adult unisex and kid’s sizes at reebok.com and select global retailers. The adult Club C will retail for $110, the kid’s style (in GS sizes) for $70, and the toddler sizes for $50.
