Jordan Ultra.Fly 2 | Detailed Look and Review

Jordan Brand has launched the Ultra.Fly 2 yet there seems to be zero promotion on the shoe at this time. Kind of strange for a budget friendly hoop shoe that happens to have it all.

If you were wondering what the Jordan Ultra.Fly 2 was all about then we’ve got a quick detailed look and review for you.

Other than the Air Jordan XXXI, the Ultra.Fly 2 seems like the best the brand has offered to consumers in quite a while. Equipped with heel and forefoot Zoom Air, a comfortable knitted mesh upper, and durable traction. Why they’re keeping this shoe a secret is baffling. At $125, these seem like a steal.

Enjoy our initial look and stay tuned for the performance review once we’re done wear-testing. If you were interested in grabbing a pair they’re available now on Nike.com.

  1. Yo Nightwing, sorry to hear about you losing your GM position with the Magic. At least you have this site to fall back on. LOL

  2. I’ve been close to buying these since you guys first leaked them, well first post they were available but anyway that mostly white pair is still my favorite for some reason even though I usually don’t favor the mostly white colorways anymore. I like that you are giving this shoe attention and can’t wait for the performance review! One question though Nightwing, do the pairs being released in the U.S. have xdr outsoles or is that only the ones released overseas? I noticed in the states we get shafted on the xdr outsoles sometimes.

  3. Seems like some good tech at the price point.

I know you can’t get a real feel until wear test, but based on first impression – does it feel like a bottom loaded zoom forefoot unit like the pg1 or does it have a bit more bounce to it like unlocked zoom might?

  4. Could be the best Jordan performer for 2016-17, although that isn’t saying much. I think the B Fly is currently their best shoe, and its not blowing people’s minds or anything.

    1. I’ve seen Foamer (or rather Buckets) raving about the B Fly. Surprised no one’s really giving them a look at all otherwise. I’d assume this is the case of having the signature athletes wearing the SF5 and mostly AJ31 — there’s just no “face” for these shoes. Butler was wearing the UF1, but now on the AJ31.

The UF2 really starts to grow on me as NW poked into the details and functional features. Really, this white colorway and the recently-posted White/Red/Black colorway actually make it look good. My only dislikes are:
      1) Nike STILL makes shoes that are a PITA to put on. I have no idea why, when Adidas goes with bootie/fixed tongue setups which go on without any thought. It’s stupid.
      2) I don’t know why they refuse to let the lace loops truly run free like true Dynamic Flywire. Adidas again nailed this without issue for their PrimeKnit models. The CE is an amazing example of what this setup can do, and there’s only 4 lace holes per row.

      1. I think your are right about the b fly and these ultra fly 2s not being really popular since there is no face or player promoting them but also like nightwing pointed out, there is no promoting going on at all for the ultra fly 2s…but at least the b. Fly had some of Jordan brands younger faces doing promos for them. I dont understand the thought process in not advertising these more, they could have victor oledipo(spelling?) even be the face of them which would be perfect imo. Especially since these uf2s are the only basketball performonce model by jordan other than the ajxxx1 to have zoom in the forefoot AND heel! Plus, they are badass looking imo and look like they will be monsters on the court. Maybe jordan brand is experimenting…seeing how a stellar performance shoe does in retail sales without any promoting techniques?! Lol,

      2. for me, they are not as bad to put on, but can be painful when wearing them for awhile especially if the fit is too snug. I suggest to try every size available and wait which one doesn’t cause you some pain. it took me an hour on deciding which size would suit me best and for me it’s a size up. also, the White colorway is sick.

        1. Just a quick shout out to these bad boys. They’re still in my outdoor hoop shoe rotation, these things are build like tanks. TTS, I wears 10, they’re snug but comfy, forefoot zoom is still noticeable. Best outdoor hoop shoes I ever owned. I got the all black with solid grey outsoles, as always with Nike, look for solids for outdoor play

  5. just got these today. awesome looking shoe. the only downside is the fit sucks (really bad). not TTS. I would have preferred it a half-size up which would have been great but unfortunately it was just too uncomfortable to wear. decided on the last minute to get 1 size up instead which my only concern was for balling since it always messed up my dribbling pattern close to my feet and often misjudge and dribble it off them which often happens when I wear size up shoes. putting the shoes on wasn’t a problem as I can easily slide my foot in by pulling the heel tab in a slant and is not as bad as putting on either the Lebrons and KDs even if they are size up. need to go a size and a half just to put on those fuckers which left a lot of room inside the shoes. the JUF2 were still fine at size up with a bit of wiggle room which was fine with me. the JUF2 were super-snug but I find the snug on the heel to be highly uncomfortable and gave me pain after a few minutes of try out. zoom unit in the forefoot felt off since it a size up and felt the half size was more on point with the ball of your foot. cushion was great and plush. my feeling they used a softer type of phylon to cage the zoom units. really bouncy and felt them under your foot. probably used 8mm zoom bags. traction was good so far and felt just the right amount of bite on the floor. materials appear really good in my opinion and doesn’t look cheapish like other signature models like the PG and Kyries. I would say these shoes are best bang for the buck and pretty much on par in value as the Adidas signature models. the aesthetics are great as well as the White Colorway. I would say a shoe that is “almost” done right by Jordan. the fit is it’s only negative but going up size is not bad at all unlike the Lebrons and KD’s.
