An original training signature sneaker from the ’90s has made a triumphant return, as the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 ‘Fresh Water’ is back at retailers.
The sneaker originally launched in 1996, as the first signature shoe for Ken Griffey Jr. This Fresh Water colorway matching the Seattle Mariners uniforms to a tee. The colorway last re-retroed in 2011 and was a hot commodity due to the baseball nostalgia.
The silhouette for the now baseball Hall of Famer has many signals of a 1990s sneaker build, with a full-length Air Max unit, nubuck materials throughout, and a collar strap bearing Griffey’s signature #24.
