Expect the Air Jordan 9 ‘Olive’ to Return in December

The classic Air Jordan 9 ‘Olive’ received a new build and became a winterized boot dubbed the Air Jordan 9 NRG this past winter. For the coming winter, we’re getting the original back.

The Air Jordan 9 ‘Olive’ hasn’t seen a retro since the limited 2012 version. Before that year chock full of Air Jordan 9s, it saw a release in 2002 and its original release in 1993.

The Air Jordan 9 was worn by Michael Jordan as a cleat when he played Minor League Baseball after his first retirement from the NBA, and it can be seen on the statue of Jordan outside of the United Center in Chicago. The original sneaker used heel and forefoot Air cushioning units, and was supported by notable athletes in the NBA including Penny Hardaway and Nick Anderson.

According to leaker @zsneakerheadz, the 2018 Air Jordan 9 ‘Olive’ will release on December 8 for $190. The 2012 version, which retailed for $160, would cost approximately $175 in today’s money (adjusted for inflation), so this year’s version will be a bit more pricey. Hopefully, that price hike will come with improved material quality and craftsmanship.

Are you looking for a crisp pair of the Air Jordan 9 ‘Olive’ (or if you’re from New York, the “Beef ‘n Broccoli”)? If you grabbed the winterized version, how was the quality? Let us know in the comments below.

UPDATE 4/3/18: Leakers play April Fool’s jokes. False alarm.
