“Discover Your Air” With Nike, Foot Locker, and Jayson Tatum

For anyone who remembers the Nike Air Max days of the 1990s, it seemed every year brought a new technological and aesthetic miracle — huge bubbles, heel to forefoot Air, and uppers laced with 3M that were layered to seem futuristic.

Taking us back to those days, Foot Locker, Nike, and Jayson Tatum of the Duke Blue Devils (some would say the Boston Celtics) are asking you to “Discover Your Air” beginning Thursday, August 23.

Releasing first is the Nike Air Origins pack, which includes the Air Max 95, Air Max Plus, and Air Max 97/Plus hybrid, all in the bright colors of the ’90s — neon purple, teal, orange — and it feels like it’s straight out of a time capsule.

The “Discover Your Air” campaign will also feature events outside of Foot Locker stores, such as the skate party in Atlanta on August 25 and the Foot Locker Takeover in Houston on September 3 and 4. Shoppers will get to sample local flair including music and food as well as giveaways and special shopping experiences.

“Our Foot Locker shoppers have come to expect he most extensive collection of Nike Air products — and this summer is no different”, said Patrick Walsh, Vice President of Marketing for Foot Locker North America, in a statement. “Tapping into the ’90s and the retro style trend, the Nike Air Origin and Frequency collections are dropping with a lot of anticipation. With these launches, the momentum of ‘Discover Your Air’ is just getting started.”

“Discover Your Air” will then release in a second wave on September 15 with the Frequency pack, again featuring silhouettes and colorways that flash to the ’90s (we haven’t seen those images yet, but they are coming).

For now, enjoy the imagery below and take a trip back to the greatest decade (for shoes) ever.
