The Nike Kobe 1 Protro is how a Retro should be done.
When we first heard that Nike planned on releasing Retro versions of Kobe Bryant’s signature shoes we were all pretty much on the same page. We were excited, but also weary, because Nike has changed/ruined Retro releases before with shoddy materials and missing tech.
Luckily, that isn’t the case with the Protro series and if this is how Nike continues to release a Retro product then we’re totally game. Everything from the fit to the materials are on point with this release.
I was concerned when the brand’s press release stated the Kobe 1’s tooling had slimmed down for performance reasons — it could be interpreted as Nike simply cutting costs — but the shoe doesn’t feel that way at all. On-court performance has been solid so far, which makes me anticipate my next run on-court.
For all the details on the Nike Kobe 1 Protro in the ‘Final Seconds’ colorway check out the video above. We have one performance review already in the books — you can check out Duke4005’s Nike Kobe 1 Protro Performance Review — and we’ll be publishing another one once I’m done with the shoe.
We hope everyone that has been wanting a pair of the Nike Kobe 1 Protro has been able to obtain it without too much hassle. I did have to pay resale just to secure a pair, but that’s the nature of the game right now. I already miss 2017, when things just sat on shelves.
