Portuguese superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has linked with Nike Sportswear for a bright Air Max 97 that pay homage to his childhood.
Before Ronaldo was forward for Real Madrid C.F., he was an impoverished youth in São Pedro, Funchal. According to Nike, Ronaldo was limited to two pairs of shoes as a kid — one for school and one for play. His play shoes quickly became full of holes, so his mother would patch them up.
Now, Ronaldo has an Air Max 97 CR7 that is patched up, stitched, and entirely gold. It sits atop a white midsole and features unique branding at the heels.
The Nike Air Max 97 CR7 is available beginning October 23 on the SNKRS App, Nike.com, and at select retailers in Western Europe. No pricing information has been announced.
