Chris Paul Debuts Jordan CP3.XI in Rockets Win Over Trail Blazers

Last night, Jordan Brand unveiled Chris Paul’s eleventh signature sneaker, the Jordan CP3.XI, which will focus on speed and traction.

“I’ve been doing this for a number of years now, and after learning about all of the tech and as I’ve gotten older, I now want my shoe to get lower and to be wearable right out of the box,” said Chris Paul in a statement. “Now, everything is about speed and traction.”

The latest in Chirs Paul’s signature line does not use an out-of-the-box brand new traction pattern; it features tried and true herringbone that runs all the way up to the toe, as per Paul’s request.

For cushion, the CP3.XI uses forefoot and heel Zoom Air units — a huge step up from the incredibly lackluster cushioning found in the CP3.X (you can learn more by checking out Nightwing2303’s Jordan CP3.X Performance Review). “I probably don’t jump as high as I once did, but when I do jump the cushioning is always nice to have for the landing,” said Paul in a statement.

Another focus of the newest Chris Paul shoe is lockdown. According to Nike, Paul and his brother had the same favorite shoe growing up: the Nike Adjust Force, which offered a removable Velcro strap. Thus, the CP3.XI features a thick midfoot strap that Paul hopes gto receive the full benefits of when the “game revs up a bit” in the Playoffs.

“I was in the sixth grade and my brother was in the eighth grade, and we only had enough money to buy one pair, so my brother wore the right one and I wore the left one,” said Paul in a statement. “Then in high school, I used to play in the Nikes Steve Nash wore [the Nike Air Jet Flight, which also had a strap].”

Like most running and basketball sneakers in 2018, the CP3.XI features a TPU plate beneath the lateral forefoot to keep the shoe’s chassis responsive and enable hard lateral cuts.

According to Chris Paul, the Jordan CP3.XI is inspired by the things that happen in his life, like art, as well as his family and his move to Houston. Branding takes up the entirety of both heels, and some striking colorways are coming.

While Jordan Brand has not announced a price or release date for the Jordan CP3.XI, expect the shoe in April. The CP3.X retailed for $125 but hit sales racks soon after its debut.

  1. Looks good. Traction should be nice. It all depends on the cushion if this warrants a look from me. Its not enough to say “forefoot and heel zoom air” anymore. Sometimes you can barely feel the zoom to the point where it might as well have been left out. We’ll have to wait for reviews to see if its worth a damn.

    1. Nicely put. Looks promising. Wish I could excited about “forefoot and heel zoom” like I used to, but I’ve been let down too many times in the last few years. I’m excited to see a fastpass autopsy and the Nightwing/Duke review…
