The Shoe Surgeon has created a hybrid sneaker perfect for soccer-loving hoopers.
Soccer boots have long been low-cut high performance sneakers. That combination was sought after by several basketball players, namely Kobe Bryant, and nowadays, low-cut basketball sneakers are everywhere.
Because of the similarities between the two, many soccer stars and basketball players enjoy both sports — Steve Nash, Joel Embiid, Theirry Henry, Tony Parker, Ben Simmons, and Kobe Bryant are just a few. This love for both sports is not exclusive to professional athletes however, as Dominic Chambrone, better known as the Shoe Surgeon, can attest to.
According to Chambrone, his inspiration for creating the adidas Copa Rose 2.0 was this love for both soccer and basketball. As a result, he took the upper from the adidas Copa, a renowned soccer boot, and the D Rose 7’s tooling (a Boost midsole and aggressive outsole), to create a shoe that combined both his favorite sports.
That being said, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility to be able to use this custom sneaker on both the soccer pitch and the basketball court.
The Shoe Surgeon’s adidas Copa Rose 2.0 ‘Electricity’ is set to drop on May 12 on his personal website and shop. No pricing information has been announced, but the shoe will be very limited. Keep it locked to WearTesters for any updates.
