After signing a five-year $158 million contract last week, Devin Booker is set to become a free agent once again next season, this time as a sneaker free agent.
According to an interview of ESPN’s Nick DePaula by the HoopsHype podcast, brands are expected to offer huge money to Booker as the Suns guard fits the criteria as an ideal signature athlete.
“Book is a guy who, I think, checks every box in terms of what brands are looking for: off-court style, an exciting style of play on-court, an explosive scorer, a young guy. I think he could be the guy that a lot of brands are targeting next,” said DePaula.
Devin Booker is currently under contract with Nike, although he does not have a signature shoe currently, he has been linked to a couple of PEs that saw limited releases — namely, the Nike Kobe 1 Protro.
Booker will likely see offers from different brands as he has established himself as an up and coming star player with his 70-point game back in 2017. According to the Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, expect Puma to be a big player in the sneaker free agency battle as it continues to establish itself as a player in the basketball sneaker game.
Booker himself has revealed his ideal sneaker makeup, stating that, “I would say: No. 1, has to be a low top — that’s most important to me. I love playing in a low top. It has to be comfortable — that’s also important for me — and lightweight. It would be a mix between a Kobe and a Paul George type.”

Rudy Gay won't be the last current NBA player to sign with Puma. I've heard that Puma is pursuing multiple players without shoe deals or expiring shoe deals. They're really going for it. https://t.co/QhWOrCZGif
