If you wanted to teach your kids the alphabet and have them learn their basketball history at the same time, this is the book you should support on Kickstarter.
B is for Baller: The Basketball Alphabet Book for Kids is illustrated by Matthew Shipley, a long-time hooper that led his church team to multiple titles. The book features 34 players and coaches including greats like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Shaq, Kobe, A.I., and newer stars like Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.
Written by James Littlejohn — who, according to his bio, watched the “greatest generation of Golden State Warriors: Adonal Foyle, Bimbo Coles, and Vonteego Cummings” — the book needs $5000 to finish all of the illustrations and pay for printing and publishing costs.
The Kickstarter has interesting stretch goals; if it raises $6000 or $7500, Littlejohn and Shipley will add additional ballers like David Robinson, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton, Tony Parker, Kevin Love, Dikembe Mutombo, and Patrick Ewing (to name a few). The full list of ballers to be added is on the Kickstarter page here.
With a $15 pledge you’ll receive a copy of B is for Baller. The Kickstarter has raised nearly $2000 of its $5000 goal, but there are only 29 days left (as of the writing of this piece).
