Japan’s monkey time, a label under the UNITED ARROWS umbrella, linked with Asics recently for a supremely tasteful and formal build of the Gel-Lyte V.
Ready to replace your dress shoes, these Gel-Lyte Vs are lathered in dark, glossy leather and nubuck/suede midfoot panels. All the Asics branding is blacked out while the heels receive a marbled pattern — it reminds me of those black and white elementary school journals. The look is tied up with black laces that look waxed to mimic the dress she look.
I would trade any dress shoe for the comfort a Gel-Lyte V provides; Gel is a cushioning system that just seems better every time you wear it. I’m very iffy of the suit and sneakers look, but these just might pull it off. Then again, if you just need to run in triple black Asics runners for the winter, you’re welcome.
These are now available in the States at History of New York for $130.
