Asics Tiger Releases an Updated No Sew Gel-Lyte V Build

Asics has been known for making really great runners, dope collabs, and re-releasing old school signature silhouettes. The Gel-Lyte V has been around since 1993 and has seen a number colorway releases but now the running brand has decided to update the classic.

The Asics Tiger Gel Lyte V NS (No Sew) keeps a classic feel while providing an innovative no-sew constructed upper for a seamless fit — while also minimizing the weight of the shoe. Visible is a fuse overlay in high-wear areas to provide durability, without completely removing the original ’90s heritage and aesthetics. Of course, this new build still features Asics’ Gel cushioning.

For those interested grabbing a pair, you’re in luck: Asics’ online shop has these stocked for $120 and overseas online stores like Asphalt Gold and The Good Will Out also have pairs.

What do you think of this classic updated with modern construction? Do you like the minimalistic use of materials? Share your thoughts down below.

  1. I don’t know how the no sew Gel Lyte III’s feel on feet, but those definitely look so much cleaner (especially the birch/latte colorway) than these. The V’s look rather cheap in the way they’ve made that heelcup/ counter and that (hook) overlay.
