First reported on in mid-May, the patchwork Ranru Pack will be releasing outside of Japan.
Scheduled for a June 17 arrival on Asics’ online shop (according to Sneaker Freaker) EU retailer Hanon will be stocking both pieces of the interesting new pack the same day for £109.00 each (approx. $140 USD).
The 襤褸 (ranru, meaning ragged, shabby, or tattered) pack dresses two Gel-Lyte IIIs in a medley of materials that are stitched together in the traditional Japanese boro style. According to Hanon, the boro textile technique is a reminder of rural Japan’s impoverished past. Before cotton was a common commodity, the life of essential garments would be extended with scrap fabric patches until the garments would be more scrap than original fabric.
Now, the Ranru pack utilizes all sorts of indigo and black denim including ticking stripe, dark wash, and light was to recreate the boro textile aesthetic. The Gel-Lyte IIIs of this pack feature visible stitching, ticked laces, and gum bottoms.
Both the Peacoat and Indigo Blue builds from this pack will launch at Hanon on June 17 at 15:00 BST.
