We love when brands experiment. Soon, Asics Tiger is releasing the Ranru Pack, a unique pair of Gel-Lyte IIIs that feature lots of stitching.
The 襤褸 (ranru, meaning ragged, shabby, or tattered) pack dresses two Gel-Lyte IIIs in a medley of materials that are stitched together. The upper seems to be a mix of denim, canvas, and all kinds of patches that feature different textures and patterns.
While similar methods have been used on the Patchwork Dunk, Coraline Dunk, and Asics Patchwork Pack of 2015, this build seems grown up and truly wearable. And the Gel-Lyte III is wearable — Gel cushioning has worked pretty well since the ’90s, and both Ranru Pack GLIIIs sit atop gum outsoles.
The Ranru Pack hits atmos Tokyo’s online shop in mid-June and there’s no word if or when this pack will land Stateside. We’ll keep an eye out to update you, but in the meantime, what do you think of this patchwork look?
