With the 45th anniversary of the NASA moon landing coming up on July 20, Android Homme has something super in store for us. Here is the Android Homme ‘THE MISSIONS’ Moon Boot sneaker. GE (General Electric), Android Homme, and JackThreads have come together to create a limited edition, super high quality sneaker. Only 100 pairs of this sneaker will be released. The Android Homme ‘THE MISSIONS’ Moon Boot sneaker features super materials including stabilized carbon fiber, thermoplastic rubber, a hydrophobic coating, 3M Scotchlite reflective material. These will be available exclusively through JackThreads Sunday, July 20, at exactly 4:18 p.m.. Why so specific a time? That is the exact moment the Apollo 11 lunar module touched down on the moon. Pricing is set at $196.00, another ode to the moon landing, as it occurred in 1969. The first 360-degree view of this shoe will be available on SanpChat on July 16; simply follow @generalelectric on SnapChat for detailed photos, videos, and stories about ‘THE MISSIONS.’
People may disregard this sneaker release as a hightop hipster shoe but let me say this: this shoe has extremely premium materials like REAL carbon fiber, thermoplastic rubber that has greater flexibility, stronger resistance, and increased absorption, and a hydrophobic coating that doesn’t come out of a can. Android Homme says, “TPR [thermoplastic rubber] offers a level of design and fabrication freedom that is not commonly available with common rubbers.” The price for Jordans will go up to right around $200 dollars next year but you will see premium quality materials like this on any of those Remastered Js? No. No you will not. Think about that before you write this shoe off.
