There is an ‘Alternate’ Air Jordan 6 Retro Coming in 2017
Earlier in 2016 we saw the ‘Alternate’ Air Jordan series hit select signature models that were established early on in MJ’s career. Models that, at the time, never saw a true ‘Away’ version of the shoe due to the NBA’s strict uniform code.
While there is no confirmation that other models will be featured in the 2017 edition of the ‘Alternate’ series, there is at least one model that will be used. The Air Jordan 6 will feature a slightly more traditional ‘Home’ colorway — something the OG Air Jordan 6 never had. Originally, there were the White/Infrared and the Carmine versions of the shoe, but the color choices and color blocking were definitely unconventional in ’91. This version of the shoe keeps things traditional and in simple fashion.
A light grey base is done in nubuck while white perforated leather overlays have been added. A team red makes its way onto the shoe and would have matched up with the Bulls uniform a little better than Infrared, but maybe not quite as much as the Carmine. Behind the tongue ‘1991’ is embroidered, a nod to the sneaker’s debut year.
An official release date isn’t set at the moment, but there are rumblings that these will be released in March 2017.
Take a look at the upcoming Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Alternate’ below, and let us know what you think about them. Could you see a young MJ rocking these on court back in ’91 or were the Infrared and Carmine colorways Bulls enough for you?
