Today, adidas Originals unveiled the adidas Kamanda, a premium silhouette for SS18 inspired by a few of the brand’s archival silhouettes.
The adidas Kamanda is inspired by the energy, attitude, and values of the Terrace movement of the 1980s, according to adidas. Then, passion for soccer — and the community surrounding it — allowed fans to create new off-the-pitch looks based on styles for the sport. The shoe is also informed by the classic adidas Samba.
The adidas Kamanda features a nubuck upper and rides atop an exaggerated translucent gum cup sole, another homage to the Terrace footwear of the ’80s. Cushioning is supplied by an EVA drop-in and a suede footbed that should offer a luxe touch. Leather is used at the rear quarter while a textured mesh tongue nods to the classic Samba look.
Set to debut on April 28 in two colorways — Burgundy/Gum and Core Black/Gum — the adidas Kamanda will retail for $150. Look for it at adidas.com and adidas retailers like Eastbay.com.
