The latest Dame 4 colorway tells the touching personal story of a promise Lillard made to his mother Gina.
Damian Lillard was named Big Sky NVP and earned All-American honors in his final year at Weber State, according to adidas. However, after his third season in the NBA, Lillard went back to school to follow up on a goal his mother had for him.
“My proudest moment is when he graduated college. I wouldn’t allow Damian to go to the NBA early until he finished school,” explained his mother Gina in a statement. “When they talked me into letting him go months before he was done with school, all I could tell him was ‘You need to make sure you finish. I’m not playing.’ I didn’t even know he was going to back to school and when he told me he graduated, I was so happy because that was the main goal in everything I did for [my kids].”
The Dame 4 ‘Start to Finish’ features a textured grey upper, white outsole, and purple accents that pay homage to Weber State. During his final year, Lillard’s incredible performances drew the attention of both the nation and NBA scouts. Thus, “25.6.4” hits the lace band to honor that moment.
