Adidas D Rose 6 “Aurora Borealis” Detailed Review

Adidas recently released the D Rose 6 in the “Aurora Borealis” (Northern Lights) colorway. Previous colorways of the Rose 6 utilized webbed mesh, synthetic leather, or synthetic suede along the upper. This pair, however, uses PrimeKnit. The knit feels really nice from a try-on. Adidas also added straps along the midfoot to help with lockdown. Unlike the home colorway, I recommend going true to size.

I will be wearing these on court for the next week or two and will have a performance update at that time. If you’re interested in a pair, click HERE. What do you think of PrimeKnit on the Rose 6? Did you pick up a pair? Let us know in the comment section below.

      1. Actually, Schwollo poked into the StableFrame and found there was a segment of EVA dividing the two Boost cartridges.

It is a thick layer of EVA, though, so it does end up feeling like a (slightly firmer) full-length setup.

  1. Did you guys got it in store?

Been going online at footlocker and it says the item is backordered by Feb 15.

Been picking between this and the cny colorway.

  2. I picked mine up in store. But I live in Illinois, so the Roses are much more available. I’m loving these shoes so far though.

  3. Hey Zak, first of all, thanks for the detailed review.

One question I have is: how’s the containment of these?
I love the way primeknit feels on your feet but the containment issue, especially during hard cuts, has been the only reason holding me back from getting shoes that utilize any knitted materials.

Does this model have some sort of design that helps with the containment (e.g. the forefoot “bucket” similar to the xx9 (the phylon/plastic bit that sticks up on the side that helps to prevent your feet from coming out of the footbed; some shoes “drop” the footbed so that the outter trims of the footbed sort of prevents your feet from coming out if you get what I mean)

It would be great if you can help answering my question! Thanks in advance

    1. these were fine unlike the Rose 5’s. if you are too concerned about containmaint eventhough these are good, then better get the Pure Mesh Black version. those are really SNUG. not sure about the XENO edition but people who tried them say it’s SNUG since they are also Mesh IIRC. I can vouch for the Pure MESH Black since those are really fit like gloves.

      1. thanks for your insight.

i have read various reviews on the synthetic and mesh rose 6s both do a good job on containment.

I’m curious as to whether the primeknit version, specifically, will be just as good in this department.

        1. they fit perfectly but aren’t as snug-fit as the synthetics, nubuck and mesh versions. the reason behind it is that those have paddings on them that made the truly snuggy like gloves. to be honest, PrimeKnits are not really snug at all unless they put some paddings on them.

  4. Primeknit looks great. Good work adidas. I played 150 games in Rose 5 last year with approximately 2200 points age 40 next month. Rose 6 is a better shoe for me this year. Grey did not work as good as the bred version. Keep up the good work adidas. My high this year is 48.

  5. I’ve tried them in store and I actually like the black mesh/textile upper better than the primeknit…dunno if I would actually played in them, if it would have changed my mind tho, but I can’t wait for your performance review to see if it’s worth getting those over the black colorway which I’m really diggin(all black and midsole/outsole all white).
