The second chapter of the “out-of-this-world” collection is almost here.
adidas Consortium A//D (adidas Parallel Dimension) is continuing its series by bringing us two new basketball iterations of the Crazy 1 ADV and Crazy 8 ADV.
Inspired by a fictional science story of the discovery of a black hole in space, each sneaker serves as an artifact of this discovery in the early 2000s. With this, these models possess distinct materials that are different of their original counterparts, yet use the same original tooling setups.
Now reimagined in futuristic greyscale colorways, the Crazy 1 ADV and Crazy 8 ADV will feature breathable mesh, textured knits, and suede panels on the heels and toeboxes as opposed to the usual suede and technical fabrics used on the original models. Red lace locks and silicone hits are found within the lacing systems and serve as a great addition to the science fiction theme.
For this latest pack, the adidas Crazy 1 has been made into a slip-on low while the Crazy 8 ADV has been heightened with a soaring new knit collar.
Each sneaker will feature hidden labels and graphics within their designs — little notes related to the shoe’s expedition details about the sneakers’ discoveries. According to adidas, the effect is true to the A//D ethos; it is an unsettling exploration of what happens when the familiar is made unfamiliar, and when the known is reconstructed through the lens of something unknown. Staying true to the A//D spirit, the effect represents the curiosity that occurs when the familiar is made unfamiliar, and when product is reimagined in a new and unexpected way.
The adidas’ Consortium A//D will release on Thursday, December 7, at select Consortium retailers like Hanon. The Crazy 1 ADV will retail for £149.00 (approx. $177 USD) while the Crazy 8 ADV will retail for £189.00 (approx. $224 USD).
