adidas BYW X Beauty Shots

The latest from adidas Hoops will be an updated take on the old FYW (Feet You Wear) series with Boost. Thus, the brand has aptly renamed the tech to BYW (Boost You Wear), and we can’t wait to try it out.

Feet You Wear was an interesting concept; it mimicked the foot and kept the wearer as close to the ground as possible for a barefoot sensation. Replacing the old EVA foam with Boost almost seems counterproductive to the original concept, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t interested in trying it out.

Bounce almost seems like it would have been a more natural fit for the FYW system, but Boost is hot right now so the brand might as well ride the wave as far as it’ll take it.

The materials look awesome because adidas seems to have intertwined modern knits with old school suedes and synthetics. The modern sock-like collar also makes an appearance, as does adidas’ original trefoil logo (which mirrors the new adidas performance logo).

Enjoy the on-foot beauty shots of the adidas BYW X below courtesy of Nick DePaula and Ray Polanco Jr. Share your thoughts on the model in the comment section.

Release dates and pricing should be coming soon so stay tuned to WearTesters.com for updates.

  1. If everything works out maybe this is the closest thing we would ever get to the jordan 28 again. I lOOOOOOVED that shoe!

  2. I just can’t help but feel like they don’t look finished. And I kinda like the ‘underdone’ look, but just not sure about these.

    1. Agreed, but this model still isn’t horrible. Adidas is trying to stay “simpler” maybe? IDC as long as they preform.

    1. This is the performance model, there is also another version which is lifestyle. Personally, I like these more!

  3. I dont care about Boost I just want legit Feet You Wear back. all the retros were bogus. super excited for these and hope we get real FYW in the future

    1. What made the retros so different? I thought they were supposedly close, but not quite the same as the originals.

Where the original versions that much better? I’ve heard a few other people say the same thing as you just did.

  4. No shot of the traction? C’mon, son. Well, you can kind of see it on the floor reflection. Hopefully its good. Seems kinda shallow.

The shoe looks nice to me from multiple angles. Oddly, the medial side looks better than the lateral side. I like that old-school three stripes serving as the lace holders.

  5. Hopefully these will be beast on court. Ahh gotta love the companies between shoe companies, they gotta produce good shoes to get better sales

  6. I must disagree: Boost actually seems like a better fit than EVA. Thin Boost might actually offer sufficient court feel, even if it feels less like Boost. The EVA was the weak link of the original FYW shoes, especially the retro releases. The BYW will almost certainly cannibalize the sales of other Adidas shoes, even the CLB 2018 that looks like it should be better than its predecessor. I even like the colorway as a nod to Kobe and to match my UW-centric wardrobe.

They should also do a Bounce version as a budget/team model.

  7. I’m all in for the first John Wall colorway. I’m assuming (hoping) this will be the carryover offering till they get a signature model produced for next year…

  8. These look gorgeous. Ive been pressing for fyw to come back for years and now it’s coming back with boost! I can’t wait for adidas to retro the adidas top ten 2010 basketball shoe from 1997.
