adidas and Donovan Mitchell Unveil His First Signature Sneaker

After months of speculation, Utah Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell finally reveals his first adidas signature sneaker — the adidas D.O.N. Issue #1.

Appropriately titled to embody Mitchell’s Determination Over Negativity and his nickname “Spida”, the shoe draws inspiration from classic comic book issue numbers. Through his alma mater, Greenwich Country Day School in Connecticut, Michell chose Rory Ashmeade and Blaise New to provide them the exclusive in his sneaker unveiling.

The shoe itself dons a bright red and blue colorway that mimics Spider-Man’s iconic costume with Mitchell’s signature spider logo located on the tongue area. On top of that, the inner padding of the sneaker also seems to utilize Spidey’s webbing structure to complete the Spider-Man theme.

Though Mitchell did not reveal the release details of the sneaker, he did mention he wanted a more affordable signature shoe, similar to the Dame line. Regardless, it is pretty cool to see Mitchell and adidas work with Spida’s alma mater and see a Spidey-inspired sneaker in the year of Spider-Man.

More details on the D.O.N. Issue #1 will be revealed later on in 2019, but for a bit more insight into the creation of the signature shoe, you can check out Mitchell’s interview here.

  1. Looks low to the ground and minimal, so im expecting some kobe-like similarities. Its good to see adidas utilizing ankle pillows to counter their heel slip issues theyve had in some shoes. Ankle pillows are always nice to see.

It would be nice if it was 100 or less, then it would move units. I havent seen a primary sig for less than a 100 in a while.

  2. That ankle pillow is so thick, you could actually sleep on them lol..
Good to see there are more and more choices on the market for ballers, and really interested on the traction. Will it be outdoor friendly?

  3. These look really weird on foot. The padded area on the heel is giant and shoots away from the achilles abruptly. In the pictures here it looks like it would hug your ankle in pillowing goodness. In the on foot images it just hangs there awkwardly. The tongue also comes up super high. Its like the Pillsbury Doughboy version of the Brandblack Rare Metal
