A Detailed Look at the Nike HyperRev 2016

One of my more anticipated models of 2016 isn’t a signature, but rather a Nike Basketball team model.

The Nike HyperRev 2016 looks like an actual evolution of the original. It’s sock-like upper looks amazing, and will likely be really comfortable to wear. Lockdown looks like it’ll be aided by the midfoot strap and the TPU external heel counter. Traction looks interesting, and the Zoom Air cushion looks to be implemented in pod-like form — which should take the shoe’s cushion to LeBron 13 level.

Check out the upcoming Nike HyperRev 2016 in full detail below, and share your thoughts on the model below in the comment section.

  1. Forefoot looks like a “normal” zoom unit reminiscent of soldier 6. Still looks like a pain to put on like the original but still has the potential to be shoe of the year(2016).

  2. this is a must. no question. the hyperrev 2014 was one of the shoes of 2014, the hyperrev 2015 is pretty much my shoe of 2015 along with the cl boost 2015, so yeah…

  3. Lockdown looks fantastic, seems like Nike’s implementing a more Jordan Brand-esque dynamic fit lacing system instead of the weak, super-skinny flywire lacing system they sometimes rely on. These look like absolute performance beasts

  4. These should’ve been 3 seperate shoes. I like the footprint sole, I like the strap, and I like the CompFit-style sock, all together(with the lump on the back) it’s just way too much.

  5. Looks like a takeaway from the Kyrie 2 honestly. Similar in shape, midfoot strap, rounded outsole despite small outrigger.

  6. The lacing moving to the belts will be an interesting one. The dynamic flywire setup of the original was a nice execution. Strap, albeit ugly, seems like a sensible measure to accommodate bigger players. Assuming everything is executed correctly, should be a nice shoe.

  7. These are dope!!! Hope it performs great. Also hope that the price will not increase. $130 or below is good for me.

  8. Traction? Nightwing-If you notice there seems to be 2 different tractions setups one is like a 3D diamond pattern and one looks subdued. Look at the university red pairs one with the black swoosh and one with the red-orange swoosh. Is one XDR? Both are available here in Germany just want to make sure I get the right ones.

  9. I have mine, got them today in black size 14 & so excited to be Playing tonight in them. The fit is very snug and not easy to put on. They are comfortable and walking around the house they are a bit lighter on my foot than they feel in my hand. The design is beastly! These will certainly turn heads. Not sure what the point of the vented bubble on the back is becuase it has a solid heel counter. The forefront cushioning is minimal by the impact rear cushioning is nice. The strap unfortunately is made so there is no flex and it bows out when laced and on your foot. The entire shoe is a neoprene boot which I like. Feels very protective with the mesh overlays.

  10. Only 114 with 2 day shipping if you use discount codes on eastbay. I’ll let you know how they play tmrw. Love looking at them tho

  11. Just finished 2 hour run. First let me say the court was very dusty. But the traction in a brand new pair of shoes was bad. I actually slipped and fell closing out on def. The shoe is very bulky and the added material with straps felt heavy. The cushioning was ok and i played with 2 pair of socks and one and for court feel with 1 was better but the additional cushioning with 2 felt better. The boot has zero support at the ankle so this plays like a low top. Compared to the 2015 hyper Rev this was disappointing. I like the look but on you feet they look huge. All in all they get 6 or 7 out of 10 for me. Quite frankly I haven’t played in anything that gets a 10 so be warned. This may not be the shoe for you. I’m keeping them however, the amount of dust on the court certainly affected my score.
