Nike has improved its sock game with the 2016 Nike Elite Versatility socks. Here’s all the information from the Swoosh:

The original Nike Elite socks, released in 2008, introduced not just technical advancement but also an immediately iconic aesthetic. Eight years later, the new Nike Elite Versatility socks continue a legacy of radical design by adding new cushioning zones, enhanced fit and Swoosh placement running along the shin.

The intricate detail of the sock is evidenced by anatomically correct right and left designs, with foot-strike cushioning aligning with basketball-specific pressure patterns. Additional cushioning around the ankle and Achilles protects feet from abrasions, while thin ribbing is featured at flex points to enhance mobility. Dri-FIT fabric pulls sweat from the foot to help keep it dry and comfortable.

The Nike Elite Versatility socks come in a range of sizes and in three lengths: low, mid and crew. They are available now on nike.com and select retail locations globally.

  1. Not necessarily for everyone but kudos for Nike pushing no-show, ankle basketball socks w/ zonal cushioning. I used to double sock my thinner running socks to get the same amount of cushioning I loved from basketball socks.

  2. I just received a few pairs of these new crews through an eBay deal.

They are pretty solid and the zoned padding is nice — these have a higher nylon content than both the original elite and the hyper elites. Still probably favor the original elite, but the compression on these versatility is nice and again, a little extra padding where you need it

  3. Nike Elites have never failed me- I’ve had a pair for over two years and there are no holes to be found anywhere. 14 dollars for a pair of socks is a little ridiculous, but they are very good quality imo.

  4. I like the look, with the high Nylon, low Cotton-content they itch like crazy on my feet though, I’ll stick to traditional cotton-socks.

    1. Sometimes marshals, tj max, or Ross, go scour through their sock section where u may probably find one. However, if u are talking about the elite versatility socks featured in this website, they are only available at footlocker, champs, or finish line in store, otherwise u have to buy them online

  5. I picked up 2 pairs of these at my local Nike outlet for $7 a pair. I think they are a way better upgrade from the previous hyper elite sock. Extremely better quality. Padding and flexibility where they should have designed the socks in the first place. This is definitely my go to sock now. I was wearing Stance NBA on court socks. But these are way more comfortable. I am a guard so in my position these have worked well for me. The hyper elites are good. But I just wear them for more of a casual design thing now. The outlets are definitely the way to go with these socks unless you want specific color ways.
