Under Armour Unveils the Drive 4 and Threadborne Outfits at FW17 Show

Yesterday, Under Armour held its FW17 showcase in a new way: fashion show. There, the brand unveiled the UA Drive 4 and entirely Threadborne outfits for men and women.

The UA Drive 4 looks way better in person — and I didn’t even recognize it at first because I was looking for what we saw in leaked images (I think we are all learning that these leaked images don’t do the kicks any justice). While we don’t have official tech specs, a release date, or pricing just yet, we do know that this model is coming soon and should be around $115.

The model wearing the UA Drive 4 was also sporting a fully Threadborne outfit. As adidas and Nike did with their respective knits, Under Armour has followed suit and created tops and bottoms from its premier material. These Threadborne pieces feel very different than the Primeknit and Tech Knit competitors — it is thicker, has different amounts of stretch depending on the garment’s function, and is very soft. UA’s knit pieces will land sometime in July for FW17.

Thoughts on the UA Drive 4 and Threadborne garments? This is just the beginning…

  1. I’m in for a low version of these. Also interesting that there is no Charged branding. Am I being foolish in hoping these are full length Micro G? Eh. Probably not that either. The pattern on the back of the midsole looks like other Charged midsoles of the past.

  2. Those kicks look like some Mars-colonizing, Alien-stomping, Starship Trooper cadet training boots. I like everything except for the top/ankle and of course that UA logo. I wonder if i can get Trump to pressure UA to change logo.

  3. I like these a lot, cushion setup is gonna be the factor on whether i get them or not. The collar is cool imo, I am just feeling the looks overall with how different they are but not crazy different. I don’t see the comparisons from the previous comments…I think people want to name drop other shoes and say one is copying the other all the time and its gotten old to hear. My only gripe is that these should be a new line like the UA threadborne drive or something and then they couldve still had the clutchfit drive 4 for fans of clutchfit.

  4. I like how these look. With these, the 3zero, and the futurist, UA seems to have found a nice design language, this “space marine tech boot” look. I like it; in the past their shoes tended to look fairly plain, at least in their basketball line.

Now hopefully they use that classic, plush micro G in these, then they’ll really create some buzz for the shoe. Charged feels pretty much like phylon to me.
