Under Armour ClutchFit Drive 3 Tech Specs

under armour clutchfit drive 3 1

According to a reliable source the Under Armour ClutchFit Drive 3, in both Mid and Low, will release on August 1. There is no word on price yet, but I’d expect the new ClutchFits to retail in the States for around $110-$120.

The new ClutchFit Drive 3 will feature an updated ClutchFit upper, an external heel counter and internal shanks, and a bear-trap lacing system that connects to the tongue. Add in an Achilles pillow, die-cut anti-microbial OrthoLite anatomical sockliner molds, and a herringbone outsole with diamond shapes insets. Finally, the most important part, cushioning: Charged cushioning is placed under the heel while a Micro G foam layer runs full-length. This could shape up to be one hell of an on-court performer.

The Under Armour ClutchFit Drive 3 is available now in the Philippines here and should arrive Stateside in the next couple days. Unfortunately, Asia is charged a premium for Under Armour and adidas products — the CFD3 retails for $178 in the Philippines.

Are you hopeful for this latest ClutchFit iteration? I think the traction looks badass and the new upper seems very promising. Let us know what you think down below.

  1. Not really a big fan of Under Armour because they don’t have shoes for big men such as myself but I might have to try these.” Because of the cushion of course”.

    1. I’m 6’3″ 275 and I loved the Spawn Anatomix 2, which had full-length Micro G. Plenty of cushion and bounce without feeling bulky or like I was up on stilts. Granted, these have a combination so it remains to be seen how these specifically will work, but I’d give anything that has full Micro G a try. You might like it.

      1. The UA Rocket has a Micro G insole and Micro G midsole and an outsole / traction pattern like the original clutchfit drive—and they’re on sale for $75 on UA’s site. But nobody’s talking about them and I’m not sure why.

  2. It looks like the original clutchfit drive/ Curry 2 hybrids. I still prefer Micro G over charged foam. I never felt that soft then firming up in charged foam. It always just felt firm. I bet these will perform well.

      1. I have no idea why they’re going away from it and moving to Charged on everything. Maybe because they’re trying to cash in on the Charged being on their most successful shoe (Curry line)? Either way, Charged is fine but Micro G is amazing and I wish they’d keep with it a little more.

  3. Wouldn’t it be better to have micro g on the heel for plush cushion while having full length charged cushion for responsiveness? Plus I have seen some lifestyle UA shoes that use a much softer version of charged foam. I wonder if they could tweak it a bit cuz the ones on the currys are quite stiff

  4. Just recently got the CD2 low and I like them. But these look like they are going to be great. Back to the full length Clutchfit on the upper as well as full length Micro G. Can’t complain about that.

  5. Is the updated upper more breathable now?,

Still remember my foot sweating a lot in the original Clutchfit Drive of Curry, which Is one shoe I like to play in because of the fit.

  6. The anti-microbial liner is a major plus imo. I don’t know why this hasn’t become a standard unless other companies are quiet about implementing it.

Whole package could be awesome if executed correctly with the Micro G layer. Still ugly, but on paper it sounds proper.

  7. I’d like this if it was traditional, full Micro G. They have a layer, but I want as much Micro G as the CF1, or even better the Spawn. I don’t understand why UA seems to be phasing Micro G out. If Curry likes Charged better, then have charged for him, but have the other models have some plush Micro G.

  8. This article just confirmed what I always thought, that UA and Adidas products are charged a premium in some parts of Asia.

UA shoes are ridiculously priced here in the Philippines…and they almost always never go on sale (Adidas does, thankfully). The unjustifiable prices compared to other products (Nike also goes on sale often here) is the reason why I never considered purchasing UA shoes.

    1. yeah. these days a lot of shoes are over-priced here in the philippines. i remember waaaay back when sometimes shoes were actually a bit cheaper here than the u.s.–that’s why now, i’m super selective when getting sneakers. even a fairly priced shoe in the u.s. like brandblack gets a premium price here as in way above srp. i’ve never picked-up a ua shoe because the price is really just too much imho.

  9. The pattern on the forefoot reminds of nikes blade traction on onenof the venomenon series. I hope these’ll be priced fairly here in the Philippines lol i ve always wanted to try UA

  10. These have been sitting for the past 2 weeks here at a local UA store in the Philippines. Along with the black/red mid and black/red low. I gotta say, the ClutchFit on these are a bit…foamy. But the padding on the heel is much much thicker compared to the ClutchFit Drive 1.

The prices here are a kick in the nuts (both nuts). If you think about it, the retail stateside is ~$125 but that goes to $178 locally. That is about $2 away from a Jordan XXX1 at retail. Customs and taxes are crazy.

    1. amen to that. one kick, 2 nuts. sale prices come after, what? 9 months to a year? tough luck. even deducting the premium, still it doesn’t feel like a sale.

      1. Idk when discounts come in the Philippines but if the retail markets works basically the same way it does in the States discounts come 3-4 weeks after a Nike/JB product debuts, 1-1.5 months for other products
