The adidas Crazy 1 basketball shoe drops December 26 and for the launch, adidas and Shoe Palace are hosting a special event at Lakewood Mall in Lakewood, California for those wanting to cop the first pair. LA based DJs The LA Leakers will spin their mixtape “13 Years Later” which dropped today and pays homage to the iconic kicks. Full event details are below and you can listen to the mixtape here.
The first half of the mixtape features popular tracks from the 2000 California music scene to reminisce on the year the Crazy 1 dropped while the second half is music from 2013 when the shoe returned to the court.
Here’s what the LA Leakers had to say about their collaboration:
“We’re honored to partner with a legendary brand like adidas who has been around since the birth of Hip-Hop. We love incorporating the fashion world into the music world as often as possible and this definitely has a little bit of both. Being that this shoe was originally released in 2000, we wanted to give a taste of what was hot on the West Coast back then and mix it with some of the new music that’s keeping things moving 13 years later.”
Inspired by the speed and sleek design of German sports cars, Crazy 1 features a curved, aerodynamic design with a matte finish inspired by the popular luxury paint job of high-end automobiles. First introduced in 2000, the Crazy 1 brought a bold, fashion forward design to the court and adorned the feet of some of the game’s biggest stars.
The adidas Crazy 1 is available for $125 on December 26 at adidas Basketball and Shoe Palace.
