The Air Penny III is the original LeBron 9… only better.

Traction has been wonderful. While the first two Penny models have been adequate in the traction department, the Air Penny III excels providing you with multidirectional traction which is durable enough for indoor and outdoor play. They won’t give you that familiar squeak that some seem to inaccurately judge a traction surface with but they will provide you with ample traction from heel to toe.

If I were Batman, I’d have my suit made with Foamposite patches – something a bit more bullet proof where my vital organs are located of course – because it’s just that durable. I say this all the time but there is nothing quite as resilient as Foamposite material. Even this thinner rendition of the Foamposite makes for a sturdy protective layer that is not typically found on hoop shoes.

One drawback to having Foamposite would be the lack of flexibility. That isn’t the case with the Air Penny III.

There is Foamposite in all the right places and it’s left off in the appropriate areas as well. The leather upper required no break-in time – soft as a baby’s bottom – and the eyelet design allowed for a great amount of flex in addition to a proper fit.

When I first tried the Air Penny III on I didn’t think much of them. They play much better than they felt upon first impression and at this time I think they are the best performing model… now I feel really stupid for not grabbing a couple of pairs when they were at the Nike Outlet for $60.

  1. oh lord.. there remind me a good old day….bought these after long time saving for them, cruising with them in school hallway..
I am surely these are best from 1 to 5, although they are bit to the heavy side for me.
These defined what “top of the line” model is, make you feel they worth every penny, at least back on 1997/8.

  2. This make me more excited for the hyperposites coming up soon, should be a great shoe if this is any indication.
