Performance Teaser: Nike Air Flight One Pt. 2

Released in the 90’s and they’re still one of the lightest performance shoes available.

Cushion isn’t half bad either…

The volume of air is nowhere near what it used to be as the cushion has been slimmed down quite a bit since these were originally released, however, it’s still good enough to get the job done.

Heel strikes are the only thing I personally haven’t liked too much but that’s mostly due to how high off the floor I am compared to ‘modern’ day models. Other than that the heel’s Air unit feels great and the forefoot’s Zoom unit is low and responsive. Even the insole they provided was decent so I really didn’t do anything other than lace them up and hit the court.

My favorite part is definitely the fit & support. While the materials are cheap, they hold you in place while allowing some movement – that way you don’t feel like your strapped to a pair of blocks – and the design overall just works. It’s what you could consider ‘timeless’ in the sense that from the time they originally released until now, for all intents and purposes… it still works.

In my opinion, the only thing that you could to these to make them better is lower the midsole a bit… other than that they are really great hoop shoes.

The Black/ White pair has already been discounted at Finish Line so if you wanted to grab a pair for $99, you’d be getting a great deal. Support in that pair should be the same since the ‘leather’ here isn’t exactly stiff… it’s actually softer than the nubuck.
