Performance Teaser: Jordan Melo M9 Pt. 2

Kicks so smooth they’re Melo…

Yeah… I’ve been waiting to say that for a good minute…

Traction is pretty good… all things considered. I do think it would perform much better had I grabbed one of the other versions that featured solid rubber throughout but taking into consideration the fact that a majority of the outsole on this pair is translucent rubber… they play damn good. When you hit the toe for toe offs you definitely feel a difference between the two sections… my advice – as usual – get a pair with solid rubber and you’ll be good to go.

When you first take them out of the box you notice that they’re pretty stiff. I remember thinking the same exact thing with the Melo M8… coincidentally enough, I received the same outcome. Once you break them in – only takes a night or so – you would never know you were wearing a sneaker built for a Forward. The Melo M9’s transitional movements feel fairly similar to the M8 and I would probably say they feel a tad bit smoother in comparison due to the heel Air Max unit being replaced with a giant Zoom Air unit.

Jordan Brand pretty much killed it again. The Jordan Melo M9 and Jordan CP3.VI are both top tier performance models. The CP3 is a near perfect Guard shoe – even stated such in their video and written review since people only seemed to have gotten from the review that I had some heel slipping – while the Melo M9 is literally the perfect combo shoe. Combo meaning great for SF & PF’s but can easily be worn by smaller players and Guards… probably even some Centers… DeMarcus Cousins loves his CP3.VI’s and I’m sure he’d love the Melo M9 even more.

  1. Wow! I’m now torn between getting the CP3 6 & this one! Can’t wait to watch your full review and article! Thanks a lot! Keep up the good job!

  2. “Kicks so smooth they’re Melo… ” \m/

Can’t wait for the red/black pair to drop here so that I can start to play hoop in the M9’s.

  3. Making me real excited about these kicks! Mostly because you make them sound so comfortable especially since I thought the M8 was and is damn comfortable. It also helps that I think I’m one of the only ones that thinks its a good looking shoe. Did you ever get around to doing an on foot video or any pictures? Thanks man! Your vids are the best.

    1. I also think that the shoe actually looks good. A lot of people don’t but for some reason, it grabs me. I like the white/blue and black/silver colorways that I saw in some of the preview pics. If these are as good as Nightwing says, I might grab them both when they release.

  4. I was expecting the teaser about the fit but can’t really complain. Can’t wait for the performance review within this week or next.

i bought lebron X after reading your review and it really did help with the knee pain that i have
even though the shoes somewhat “restrict” my movement, i’m playing 3 and i weight about 200 lbs
so compared to lebron X , will this m9 give me the cushion that my knee needs ?
before lebron X i played in hyperdunk 2011 and i love the shoes, but my knee hurt when i play in those
so will you recomend me this M9 ?
    thank you.
the only issues with the lebron X that i feel is :
    a little bit to bulky
    a little bit to heavy

          1. The Lebron X is pretty much a cushion on the court. If you were a center or a big forward I would recommend them. The M9 has less cushion. Remember the more cushion a shoe has the less ground performance it has. There is a direct effect on each. That is why you can’t make a CP3 VI with a huge heel cushion or any other. I’m a guard and I have to live with my heels killing me after a game. The Kobe VIII is the best as far as a compromise between the 2. Lunarlon full! But still because of physics a guards shoe will ALWAYS have less cushioning and more flexibility than a bigger positions shoe. (Forever). Take any crazy light or Rose (OW when landing but damn I can move on the ground). I’ve had the Lebron X Olympics from launch and its like a couch on your feet…Ahhh! But try to feel fast…no.

  6. I too bought the Lebron X after I read about the cushion tech. I love them personally. For me, I play PG. The way the LJ X’s respond take so much stress off my feet and give me that stable support I feel I need for me to play the way I want my feet don’t hurt anymore and the only other basketball shoe I loved next to my X’s is The AI Questions. So I am very used to the bulky and heavy feel everyone speaks of, which is very true. Would you say the M9 performance is comparable? I have yet to buy a Jordan brand shoe other then the originals that I don’t play in.

  7. Hey NW I got the m9s and they’re great, but I’m still dealing with shin splints. Would you recommend going with the lebron X?
