The NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown x Acronym

Swoosh collaborations have been coming in full force as of late. Ever since last year’s release of the Nike Air Presto x Acronym collabs — instant hits — people have been ecstatic for the next project. Nike now brings us more technical design by teaming up with Acronym co-founder Errolson Hugh;  the brand have High free reign to create something outside the box, hoping to change the way people see shoes by leaps and bounds.

As per Nike News:

Known for its technical experimentations, Acronym® is nothing if not devoted to the proposition of improved functionality. Since its inception, the brand, led by co-founder Errolson Hugh, has pushed aesthetic boundaries while remaining acutely aware of wearers’ needs. The result: A track record of game-changing garments that completely reinvent the potential of clothing for urban environments.

Acronym®’s collaborations with Nike are no different. Each assesses a discrete problem and finds plausible solution.

Hugh’s NIKELAB AF1 Downtown x Acronym® — which follows 2015’s NikeLab Lunar Force 1 x Acronym® — mixes utilitarian features and innovative textiles. Case in point: The extra-high soft shell collar incorporates a quick-release German mil-spec fastener for tactical functionality. This works in concert with an extended brass zipper and pleated paneling to give the shoe a futuristic form.

If you’re lucky enough, and in NY, the Acronym x Nike Air Force 1 Downtown releases exclusively at NikeLab NY. Good luck to all.

In the meantime, what do you think of the latest Acronym collaboration with Nike? Do you dig the buckle on the shoe?
