Nike Lunar Raid – Detailed Look

The Nike Air Raid is back and they’ll be getting a modern update.

Lunar is the first and most notable new feature on this once classic design and they’ve also tweaked the aesthetics a bit for better performance. I’m loving the addition of herringbone to the outsole and I look forward to trying a pair out.

  1. are these good for outdoor use? Nightwing, when you are going to make some video about outdoor basketball shoes ? i would like to know , which shoes are good since people that don’t live in USA can’t get shoes with xdr … and summer time is coming for basketball outside…

      1. I read your article, long time ago , but since today most of the shoes that adidas and nike make (only brands available here), it would be cool to make some kind of list with shoes that you had experience with on the outdoor courts in terms of rubber lasting , cushion, materials… I have played outdoors in kobe 6 (they didn’t last long. traction went in 3 weeks), lebron 9 were good , traction pattern gone also quickly but traction still works fine outdoor for some reason , i suppose because of the rubber… hyperdunks 2012 were little more durable than kobes and jordan 2009 was a winner , they still rock on outdoor/indoor , only downfall is that they are not smooth at all.. well thats my experience 😛
Best regards from Serbia ! and keep up the good work ! 🙂

        1. Those were the tips in the article and should be applied to your sneaker hunt. Denser rubber will last vs the softer rubber which is what you encountered with the Kobe 6. The tips break things down so that you can use it while shopping and pick the right shoe the first time around. What you are proposing I do will not only be costly but it’d take me months to take notes of wear and tear on each shoe in different outdoor settings. Whereas the tip provided are the perfect guideline to what you need. What I try to do here is educate the consumer so they can make the best decision for themselves, I dont make the decisions for the consumers. Appreciate your support!

          1. I understand what are you saying, i didn’t mean that you should test shoes from wear to tear , the article you wrote and tips are really good and helpful… my only thought was about if you had some good experience with some shoes outside playing… other than that like you said, its consumers decision… but it is true that today most of basketball shoes are made for indoor purposes … so the last tip in your article is the most useful !
I don’t want to go off topic , this is very nice shoe and i hope it do well on outdoor courts … once again , great reviews ! wish you best !

  2. these are looking fantastic. great update to a classic. would have thought the outsole would have offered more coverage for an outdoor shoe but have to wait to see if theres going to be durability issues

  3. Hi Nightwing, do you think these are Outdoor specific as the originals, or they have been switched for indoor use? I’m interested in copping a pair…
