Nike Kobe X ‘Blue Lagoon’ – Detailed Look

Nike hasn’t yet unveiled the Nike Kobe X, but retailers have been letting everyone know that they’ve arrive in their inventory.

Call me crazy, but I actually like how these look in this colorway. Still not sold on their traction – based on looks alone – and the upper seems a bit outdated, unless that’s a full mesh upper… and the midsole being caged is very different than what we’re used to with the Kobe line. But, I do like this colorway. Only time will tell whether or not they perform well, but at this moment… I like how this pair looks.

Check out a new detailed look at the Kobe X, their release is right around the corner, and let me know what you think.

      1. I’d like to see the cushion switched around, it could possibly be better. I have the kobe 8’s and 9’s and I like Lunarlon but I feel like I need something more responsive in the forefoot area

  1. Kobe let me down on this one. I sure it will be a comfortable shoe with lunarlon/ caged zoom with the mesh upper, but I still not sold with the rest of the shoe. Looks more than the Kyrie 1 low than a Kobe signature model.

  2. I dunno about that piece along the pinky toe. If that is TPU then it’s gonna hurt coming to a quick stop. Traction looks suspect. I’m very curious to know they flex as far as the midsole. They look kinda stiff.

  3. I’m not saying Nike is a perfect company by any means, but I don’t think they would give a signature athlete, like Kobe, bad traction; especially after last year’s pattern. I do agree that it doesn’t look that good, but the Kyrie 1 looked great and it didn’t perform well. As we have all seen in the past, looks can be deceiving; or so we can hope.

  4. I actually like how the carbon wraps under the outsole. Looks like it will make the Cf useful rather than having it just move with the upper materials outwards on sideways cuts.

I’d like to see it connected to a real Cf shank like that of the 2k4 in the future.

I still can’t do lunarlon only in the forefoot for the price. There isn’t enough longevity for me.

  5. The traction pattern reminds me of those sticky mats for putting your phone on while in your car. Hopefully it will perform the same?

    1. Probably won’t, because it’s inbetween the lunarlon, and the rubber midsole, so the lunarlon should block the carbon fiber, making it not having direct contact to your foot

  6. The toe where the clear sole meets the upper looks exactly like my blue and black snakeskin Jordan XIs..I really like that. Hopefully these perform well.

  7. Not a fan of caged zoom for the most part. I was really hoping to see front and rear zoom with a carbon shank midfoot, guess i was asking to much though lol. Ill be buying a High to try on court but the look of the shoe isnt something i would wear casually

  8. I’m actually really liking these, they look like they will perform pretty well. I have had the past two kobe models ( 8 and 9 ) and have loved them, lets hope that these are beasts on court. depending on the upcoming performance review will either be getting these or the clutch fit drive lows, when they release.

  9. I actually think the traction can work because it is similar to patterns of soles of some Chef’s kitchen clogs which are made not to slip. Of course dust is still a factor.

  10. This is a more structured, rigid shoe no doubt, one that has much more support than the last three models. The 8 was more of a minimalist shoe, too flexible at the forefoot, which does wreaks havoc upon the achillies tendon, and I wonder if upon doing research on his injuries, the achillies and knees, possibly referring to physicians and specialists, if Kobe had gotten wind that those sort of shoes were bad for him, thus the new setup. If that is the case, then this is a plus, making this more of a basketball shoe, and less of a discussion piece about how Kobe is supposedly reinventing basketball shoes.

Now I don’t want to hear from anyone stating that “I’ve worn kobe’s blah, blah, blah, and I do not have any problems”, because that’s nothing but hubris. This new Kobe shoe is pointing in a new direction, much different than what has been put out there with the last three sigs. That is saying a lot, because this is a big change. Something had to be wrong.

  11. I’m a hugh Kobe8 fans but we all know this “Kobe Roshe X run” will be tons of TPU coating inside the shoes….what’s the point of the mesh!?
