Nike KD 9 ‘Royal’ Quick Look | Quick Kicks

I’ve been waiting a long time to get another pair of KD 9s, and boy was it worth the wait. After the Zoom unit in my KD 9 ‘USA’ popped a few months ago, I’ve been itching for a similar colorway to release. I knew that I’d have a new pair of kicks in my basketball bag as soon as the KD 9 ‘Royal’ dropped.

This new colorway features a heather white and blue Flyknit upper, with bright royal blue mesh at the rear. The color combination of the heather and the royal is gorgeous, and it is complemented by a bright blue Zoom unit. The outsole is made of a solid white rubber compound, which has some of the best traction that 2016 had to offer.

My only concern is whether the Zoom unit will hold up. A popped Zoom unit on the KD 9 has happened to a few of us here at WearTesters, so I’m unsure if my previous pair was defective or if there is a fundamental flaw in the design. Only time will tell with these, and I’ll be sure to report back if anything does happen.

What do you think of this new colorway of the KD 9?  What colorways have you bought, and how have they held up over time?  Let us know in the comment section below, and stay tuned to for future Nike releases.

  1. Congrats to you! Those things look so good with that white and blue. Hope they don’t pop on you this time!

  2. the zoom bag in the right shoe of my blackout pair popped when i landed on a hop step (a simple, totally innocuous hop into a jumper) as well, i do think that there is something fundamentally wrong with the shoes, which is why i’m not really keen to replace my pair, as incredible as they are

  3. That’s bad, im guessing the kd9 with a pop zoom air is totally useless now for basketball, that’s $150 down the drain……,

I’ll stick with the Adidas Basketball BOOST lineup.

  4. Man, I’m so scared now that mine are gonna pop. I even worked out in them on the leg press to break them in and went a little heavier than I intended to for break in but they survived. So far so good but I love this model.
