If ever there is a time Nike Basketball shines, it is during March Madness.
Some of the greatest campaigns ever arose from the ashes of brackets being burned and college stars rising to NBA greatness. This year, Nike is outfitting certain elite teams in new Vapor uniforms with Aeroswift technology. Those teams include Arizona, Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Marquette, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon and North Carolina for the men’s tournament. For the women’s tournament, schools include Baylor and UConn.
The uniforms are made from recycled polyester and plastic; each jersey is constructed using 20 recycled bottles. The jerseys and shorts are almost 50 percent lighter than the ones worn 20 years ago; the total from the mid-’90s weighed in at 22.6 ounces while today, 20 years later, the weight is down to 11.4 ounces for top and bottom, together.
