Nike Air Zoom Odyssey – First Impression

The Nike Air Zoom Odyssey is just a straight beast. So much technology is put into this shoe from Nike Running. Hopefully, it will all be functional. Let’s take a look at the shoe below, or feel free to watch the video on them as well.

The Nike Air Zoom Odyssey is a part of the Nike Zoom pack that was unveiled earlier this year, which consisted of five different shoes (Vomero 10, Elite 8, Structure 19, Pegasus 32, Odyssey.) I picked up the Odyssey but it was a hard choice to make between the Vomero 10 and the Odyssey (see video for why).

The Nike Air Zoom Odyssey features a heavily cushioned, foam midsole, which utilizes forefoot and heel Zoom Air, which is embedded within a Lunarlon carrier. The Lunarlon is supported by a layer of Cushlon, just underneath the Lunarlon and in the heel (setup is much like the UA Curry One). For support, we have a triple density foam that makes up a support cage on the medial side of the shoe and adds arch support as well. The upper is a Flymesh, a more tightly knit mesh than what’s found on a Nike Roshe, but not as tight as Engineered Mesh. “Flywire” support cables are featured along the eyelets and an external heel cup helps to cup your ankle into the shoe.

Be on the lookout for a possible performance review or follow up on this shoe in the future. As always, stay tuned to WearTesters.com for all your sneaker news and performance needs.

  1. These look like a nice pair of runners. Hopefully you do a performance review because I would definitely be interested in seeing how they perform.

Those of you that are into Nike runners – What would you rate as being their top 5 running shoes out of all their current new release models? I usually look at other brands when I am looking at running shoes, but I figure I might give Nike a closer look and see if they have anything I’m interested in. I hear the Pegasus 32s are quite a good shoe. Anyone tried them?
