Jordan Brand Pays Homage to the Air Jordan 4 with the Jordan Fly ’89

Jordan Brand looks to get into the running inspired lifestyle look by paying homage to the Air Jordan 4 with the Fly ’89.

It looks as if Jordan Brand as taken some of the most prominent design elements from the Air Jordan 4 and placed them on the Jordan Fly ’89.

The iconic lockdown wings, paint splatter midsole and rear back tab of the beloved AJ4 is making its way onto a lifestyle sneaker that looks like a cross between the Nike Lunarcharge and Nike Roshe Run. Makes sense. Yeah, not really.

This lightweight pair of kicks sports a neoprene bootie upper with synthetic overlays. Cushion is not listed anywhere on the shoe so we wont be surprised if these end up retailing for $140 without any cushion at all. However, we can’t help but think of a Lunar based shoe when looking at the outsole so Jordan Brand may surprise us with the use of Lunar foam. Fingers crossed.

@FootLockerEU states these will be available exclusively at the Europe storefronts beginning April 13. It’s unlikely the Jordan Fly ’89 remains an overseas exclusive so feel free to speculate as to if/when the shoe will release Stateside.

Anyone feeling the Jordan Fly ’89? Good mix of new and old or would you rather keep classic design elements on the classics?

  1. They could do a light version of retros: so same look but everything updated. New cushion, new upper etc but the exact same look. They would have my attention then but this looks like JB has ran out of ideas

    1. It’s gotta be coming eventually. Nike’s been doing flyknit Air Force 1’s, and mesh and flyknit Air Max 90’s. Retro Jordan’s with updated tech has gotta be coming up. Especially now that the retros aren’t even selling like they used to. They gotta find new ways to squeeze more $$$ outta those models.

  2. These look plain stupid. I liked the Jordan 12-inspired trainers but this one makes the back look too bulky.

  3. I just wish they put a few more eyelets on there. Looks weird with just the AJ 4 3 eyelets there
