First Impression: Jordan CP3.VI (6)

And here we go…

When you read that make sure you do it the way Heath Ledger did as the Joker in The Dark Knight otherwise it’ll lose all of its awesomeness.

Traction – BEASTYLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First-Impression-Jordan-CP3.VI-6-3

Just look at it! I don’t even need to say anything! This is the most aggressive traction I think I’ve ever seen.

Cushion – You have Podulon – which is Cushlon foam in a specific area – where you see the red rubber.

The heel portion is recessed – whereas the CP3.V was the opposite and protruded outward. This setup will keep you stable while providing cushion upon heel strikes.

Material – The same type of Fuse is used along the upper that we had seen previously in the Jordan Super.Fly. It’s slightly rigid in the forefoot and then flexible throughout the rest of the upper. It’s thin, lightweight and durable… what more can you ask for.

Fit – They fit true to size but also wrap perfectly around your foot so wide footers may need to either try them on or go ½ size up.

Jordan Brand also fixed the heel sculpt… something that didn’t quite work out too well in the CP3.V. This time around your heel feels perfectly secure once fully laced.

Ventilation – The cutouts actually do something! I was thoroughly unimpressed with the CP3.V’s ventilation. All of those cutouts were deceiving as they really offered no air flow whatsoever. This time around they left the ventilation holes open which will allow for a decent amount of air flow. It should be slightly more efficient than the Super.Fly setup.

Support – TPU is found at the base of the midfoot. It’s been reduced in size but it doesn’t feel as if it will affect anything in a negative way. Since there are so many flex points along the outsole this was very necessary so any support at the arch is welcomed here.

The fit will also add some support but to coincide with everything else, the midsole has been widened out a lot since the CP3.V.

All in all… it looks like every issue I had with the CP3.V has been fixed. I’m not saying that this was because of my review at all – in fact it would be highly unlikely that my review did much of anything and I doubt Jordan Brand even saw it. These are professional designers and they are basically working for a professional athlete so whatever the athlete wants or needs will eventually be put into the product.

With that being said… I can’t wait to play in these!

  1. Can’t wait for the full review. I was pretty disappointed with the CP Vs. Traction was great by I had a hard problem with keep my heal down in the shoe no matter how hard I tied the shoes since the fuse upper doesn’t really conform to your foot too well. The upper was too thick but the CP VI uppers dont seem as thick. Hopefully everything will be resolved in VI’s.

  2. I like these “deep” grooves on the outsole, combined with herringbone and triangular pattern it might be a good outdoor shoe, at least u wont have to wipe it that often. I like this design as well, its kinda quiet, its nice to have something like that in change rather than these hyperaggressors, hyperchaos and stuff.

  3. I have the CP3.V’s currently, but I can’t play in them because I have really low arches. As you probably know, the arch support in the CP3.V is cut pretty deep (similar to the LeBron 9), so it causes me a lot of pain. Do you think these would have the same problem for me?

  4. hey nightwing,
if these provide good ankle support and preventing you from rolling your ankle, these might really be one of the best shoes this year…

    what do you think NW?

  5. What do you think compared to zoom soldier 6 traction while playing outdoor?i was about to purchase soldier VI now this thing chnage my mind 🙂

      1. it doesn’t burn CO2 gas, that’s why it’s eco-friendly. lol.

on the otherhand, this kinda reminds me of the turningpoint, just the nike branding. the traction looks to be a killer on court.

  6. Is it fair to give 10/10 for ektio & lining turningpoint for the traction i mean its only good in indoor but outdoor the rubber wont last much as per your review.i think 10/10 should be rated only if the rubber will last long enough in outdoor/indoor & most of your review u should really point out about playing in outdoor for the traction which u dont do it.All these just a suggestion bro.i really love every single effort you put on the website.

    1. I actually do state my recommendation within the written review more often than not. Ive also gone over the outdoor vs indoor thing on the HD2012 review, we used to hoop in any shoe no matter where the court was located. Its perfectly fair for me to rate a shoe based solely on its performance because im the one testing the product, not you or anyone else. If you checked out the Ektio review then you would have heard my recommendation on their outdoor traction and use.

I appreciate your support but just be sure that when you come to criticize someones work that you are coming to them with actual facts… It allows me to see who is really reading and watching the reviews versus who is just stopping by to take a look at the score card only.

  7. Couldn’t wait…got mine a couple days ago. They are awesome! Cushion is amazing! The traction will work great outside but probably wouldn’t last very long.

  8. These shoes are sick the traction is amazing . I can’t what for these shoes to be rated. The rose 3.0 and the cp3 vi going to be great absolutely great reviews.

  9. Hey Knightwing I’m a big fan what I have a question for you is I play not superduper competitive basketball if I wouldn’t get the CP threes went last me playing noncompetitive basketball

    1. Sorry Nightwing voice recognition sucks. my real question is if I got the cp3.iv and I play noncompetitive basketball Would they last?

  10. last long outdoor??
i just got ae version i know there isnt much difference as traction, but i only have outdoor courts to play on.. do you think the traction will last a decent amount of time compared to other shoes??
