For the first time ever, Nike brings you inside its Air manufacturing facility in Beaverton, OR — and it’s amazing.
Ever shoe nerd’s wet dream is to go inside the manufacturing process of Nike’s Air technology. From Max Air to Zoom Air and beyond, I would drool over the process behind the fascinating technology.
While Air is now considered ‘outdated’, it still has its place within the performance footwear world because it still works. Creating the latest innovation with the technology, Nike was able to remove the midsole completely on the upcoming Nike Air VaporMax so you ride directly on Air.
The inside look isn’t as detailed as I would have liked and you’ll have to re-watch the video a few times to see everything, but it was still cool to see. However, I think it’s more interesting that the latest Air units are manufactured here in the States. Possibly to reduce the risk of counterfeiters knocking off the tech prior to its release.
Enjoy the process of manufacturing Air below and let us know what you think in the comment section.
If I remember correctly, the “foam-less/all-air” mid-sole was 1st introduced in the Airmax 360 back in 2006.
ADIDAS BOOST > NIKE AIR
Along with the fact that you can’t POP the boost, unlike what happens most of the time to exposed Air Cushion units.
have to agree.
Hey NW, do you know if this place is visitable? Or if they have a factory outlet store, with shoes? I’m 2 hours away from there so…
Keep up the great articles and reviews. And the good work.
Thanks
