Effective February 28, Finish Line has appointed Melissa Greenwell as EVP and COO. Greenwell has served as the company’s EVP and chief human resources officer since June 2013.

Formerly, Melissa Greenwell was the vice president and senior vice president of human resources. According to SportsOneSource, on January 7, the company announced that Sam Sato would succeed Glenn Lyon as chief executive officer, effective February 28. Sato has been president of Finish Line since October 2014. Through the end of 2016, Lyon will serve as executive chairman of the board (he is currently the CEO and chairman of the board). Once 2017 rolls around, Lyon will become the non-executive chairman of the board.

According to SportsOneSource, Finish Line hasn’t had a formal COO since 2013 when Steve Schneider, the former president and COO, moved to the position of EVP of strategic initiatives. In April of 2015, Schneider retired.

  1. How about the company diversifies the lineup of shoes in each store. Many stores missed big releases due to shipping issues in the Black Friday to Christmas window. Carry more Adidas and Under Armour on stores, while keeping Nike/Jordan focused on big releases and strong mid-level shoes.
