If you haven’t heard of Burn Rubber then you need to pay attention. Longtime collaborators with the Vector brand, the Detroit-based sneaker store has gained the renown of sneaker enthusiasts and celebrities alike for its fantastic collaborations. Reebok and the NHL’s Detroit Redwings have teamed up with Burn Rubber to continue the Vector’s hockey project on one of Reebok’s most iconic shoes, the Bolton — a staple silhouette for Burn Rubber collabs.
This Reebok Bolton features the Detroit Wings team colorway in red, white, and black. The team’s logo is embossed in premium leather at the heel to compliment Burn Rubber’s bold logo on the other heel. Even the tongues get premium patches with embossed details, and the shoe sits atop what appears to be a red translucent rubber outsole.
The Burn Rubber x Detroit Red Wings x Reebok Bolton embodies the expression “out with the old, in with the new” and pays homage to one of the most historic buildings in all of sports: the Joe Louis Arena. The Detroit Red Wings, one of the original six teams — and one of the most celebrated teams in history of the NHL — will be moving from the old arena into the brand new Little Caesars Arena.
In celebrating moving forward, this collab takes a moment to look back and appreciate the team’s roots. Moreover, this project celebrates the city of Detroit and its plans for the future: new businesses, a new stadium, and a new skyline.
The Burn Rubber x Detroit Red Wings x Reebok Bolton will release March 11 at 12 AM EST exclusively at BurnRubberSnekaers.com. We reached out for a comment, but price is still TBD.
What do you think of the latest collaboration out of Detroit? Is there a particular NHL team you’d like to see Reebok link up with next? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
