Pensole Academy, the footwear design school based in Portland, Oregon, launched Foot Locker and Pensole’s inaugural Fueling the Future of Footwear contest earlier this year. The winners of the contest, Alyssa, Evan, and Andrew from Team 5, collaboratively came together to design the Asics Gel Lyte 3 ‘Pensole Reflect’.
The Asics Gel Lyte 3 ‘Pensole Reflect’ centers around the theme of reflection. The shoe embodies this theme with reflective details and mirrored right and left medial sides of the shoe. The upper of the GL3 ‘Pensole Reflect’ is a perforated nanobuck upper, similar to nubuck, with a 3M reflective underlay. Leather is used on the iconic split tongue, interior lining, and medial and lateral branding in shades of blue and orange. As stated above, the right medial side of the shoe mirrors the left medial side’s interior design in orange (see images below). Furthermore, this pair comes in special packaging which unfolds into a circular poster.
The Asics Gel Lyte 3 ‘Pensole Reflect’ is limited to 300 pairs and will release globally on September 15 at select Foot Locker stores for a retail price of $150 USD (price may vary in countries with different currencies). The full list of stores is listed below.
