adidas Rose 4 ‘Christmas’ Sample

We’ve seen glimpses of the upcoming adidas Rose 4 but this is the first time we’ve seen them in their entirety.

This Sample pair is supposed to be the Christmas colorway but as we all know, things can change at any time so this may not be the Christmas colorway by the time Christmas actually rolls around. They feature the next gen PureMotion along with a SprintFram and synthetic upper… the split look is still strange to me as it doesn’t quite make sense but its there so we’ll have to live with it. The toe reminds me a bit of the Air Jordan 2012 so that’s not a bad look – in my opinion.

Take a look at more images after the jump and let me know what you think.

  1. The 2 tone color scheme doesn’t work for me. I think all cw’s would look like this based on the previous pics.

  2. My guess is that the split look has something to do with “the return” theme. the theme maybe a TRANSITION from the old to a new, better Drose. The rear elements, from the “egg” down to the outsole is the 3.5, while mid to toe it’s the new Drose carrying new technology. a blend of both 2012-2013 (which never really saw Drose on court) and 2013-2014 season. hope i made sense.

    1. Maybe this is like the Adidas Rose 3.75 then they’ll release another shoe completing the whole front 4.0 design?

I think these’ll look great on feet, clearly stands out from the design crowd.

      1. Would like to have a pair (just not this CW) since i find the concept very unique, reminding me of my shaqnosis and blast reeboks way back. I really hope the arch will be better on this sole for me, as CQ’s dont like my left foot.

  3. am i peeking a Puremotion on the outsole? I tried on a crazyquick when i hit the mall yesterday, and it feels awesome and low to the ground. I think this’ll perform great. I’m looking forward to more colorways and the low cut version

    1. Fwir it’s puremotion with 2 flex zones, while CQ’s have 4 zones. Dont see much difference since the 2 additional zones are on the heel, and well, my heel dont flex haha

  4. I’m a big fan of adidas and D. Rose’s kicks, and have ’em from 1 to 3. I believe that adidas has more durable kicks and do great for performance… but cotdamn these are ugly. I hope the 4.5’s look better, though tbh most kicks look better than these, so that shouldn’t be too hard.

  5. now if u hooped in the 3 and 3.5 this is a great shoe.. the most recent crazy quick were missing cusioning and to have the best of both worlds in the 3.5/crazy quick this is a gaurds dream shoe… amen to the shoe itself the color scheme is 2nd to the love of the game … good job adidas

  6. based on the images, there is still hope that adidas will incorporate the boost cushion tech…

  7. Still cant get over the 6th phot from top of jump, pic from rear.. Must be the color combination but dang it’s not weird-pretty at all. 🙂 i’d still consider this; cant wait for a comparo with CQ’s so i can finally purchase my very first puremotion pair.

      1. I hope so too.. Since they maybe priced higher than the CQ’s, i hope the synthetic upper and less-flex sole offer better value compared to the techfit and 4 flex zones of the CQ. Very interested in their on court performance especially on blacktop..

  8. Apart from the look which I do not find attractive, it seems that ventilation will be an issue. I also hope that the upper synthetic will be flexible enough to allow unrestricted motion. Finally, I am expecting the midfoot snug fit and wide toe area of the previous models will be changed on 4s.

  9. I think of many of my favorite shoes on court and they had a distinct look up close but also at a distance. Think of the distinct midsole on the Jordan 4, the toe cap on the question, or the then unique wrap around look of the patent leather 11.

This shoe hopefully has a way to go but they might really look great on court and simply continue the trend of a great performing line.

  10. Ew. What is this? I thought it’s going to a mix of the Crazyquik and his own series, but by looking at this…man the looks are just ugly.

  11. It’s a shame, because if the shoe could have stayed red and white throughout and not included that seemingly pointless contrast section at the back, these could have looked great. Although, I’ll wait for a performance review and maybe some new colorways before I criticize them.

  12. Ive been all about Adidas as of late, but not sure what happened here. I wouldnt have minded the hard split half shoe look, its got potential to stand out next time DRose runs it on a nationally televised game, but the split is so awkward once the tapping on the upper meets the midsole. I have the Crazyquicks but the puremotion on these look like a complete takedown, its all one piece, wheres the seperation. I guess its a plus that Adidas comes around with a .5 version to hopefully fix some wrongss

  13. Well maybe they look better on foot, i remember seeing the lining way of wade and thinking they were ugly as hell but then after seeing them on dwades feet and on chris’s, I actually think there is still hope for these aesthetically.

  14. Wtf? You guys are right about the 6th picture! Lol wth is that! U also cant get over how demented the rose lofo loojs at the ankle… Smh… But i do think the concept of the shoe is lretty dam cool, i like how its like evolving!

  15. Hey guys. Just a few insights The split will be the theme for all new adizero shoes. Puromotion or whatever: the outsole clearly takes its inspiration from the Crazyquick. The outsole consists of 6 rubber parts: heel, forefoot/lateral midfoot and 4 medial midfoot pieces. The shoe will feel very similar to the 3.0 and the 3.5. The Crazyquick is build way different as the flex grooves are way deeper and the outsole is more segmented. We have a traditional outsole midsole that takes some inspiration from the Crazyquick. We have again no real technologie at the Rose. Just the Sprintframe. The heel ankle area is padded with a very nice memory foam. My biggest concern with the shoe is that it is very slim.

  16. incredibly ugly. this type of split design was done in the 90s by Converse I believe but they were much more attractive. these are brutal. cant imagine ppl buying these. good luck adidas. worth $50

  17. Did anyone notice the diamond-esque pattern inbetween the stripes on the heel of the sprint frame?

  18. Wow, I was talking to Tadatsune the other day about newer Adidas shoes looking horrible, but this is getting crazy. What are Adidas doing?

I won’t dismiss a shoe based on looks alone, as it is the performance that counts, but wow, Adidas are making it really hard to buy a pair of their newer shoes.

  19. yeah man, these are just awful. that being said, though, if they play better than the d-rose 3 then i’m probably going to close my eyes and pick them up

  20. Anyone know the name of the person who designs Rose shoes, or specifically, who designd the Rose 4?

I think they really need to hear fans’ feedback. I’m as big of a Rose support out there, but I don’t think I can get with these.

    Hoping the 4.5s are better.

  21. Really weird transitioning by the heel. It would look better if it was more streamlined and put some boost in the heel at least and get rid of the plastic lining on the sprintframe, nike shoes get by just fine without it!

  22. Damn after the 2.5’s D-Rose’s shoes just kept getting worse, no offense to his on-court performance’s the dude’s a BEAST. #thereturn

  23. Crazy Quick had sex with a Rose 3 (.5) Not attractive. The man hasn’t played in years but he can put his name on shoes. If they had better cushioning..I’d buy the 4s in a heartbeat. I know these are for guards..like myself…but I get it…court feel…but its like landing on stones!

  24. I do like the upper on these. ..is that Nubuck on the back? Are they running out of ideas…Lets combine 3 of our shoes into 1. I guess. They need a better foam. Adidas…get it together.

  25. If the front was patent leather and the back was new buck then I would like them more. These are all synthetic.
