adidas Shows You How They Manufacture Futurecraft Footwear

adidas futurecraft

adidas is on the come up and everyone should already be aware of it — Futurecraft may be coming sooner than we think.

With footwear technology evolving faster than ever before, adidas shows us how they manufacture their upcoming Futurecraft runners. The upper is a pure knit which sits atop Boost tooling. Something that wasn’t discussed, since the video has no words, is what happens to the TPU sheet they initially thread the upper onto. You can see that the TPU is no longer part of the shoe once the build is complete. So, was the sheet strictly to show how the upper is made or is that part of the actual process of building the shoe?

While the project is an impressive one to look at, buyers may have to wait a while to actually get their feet in these. Like the majority of Futurecraft designs to date, these exist only as prototypes for now.

Take a look at the next step in adidas’ evolution, Futurecraft, and let us know what you think below in the comment section. Could this be the future of all footwear?

  1. Wow that’s very interesting, a pure primeknit upper,

Wonder how many layers is needed for a 100% primeknit upper to work.

    1. it is not primeknit, it’s a special type of weave they can “print” it is likely to be more supportive than primeknit
