The adidas Hoops Family Grows with Eight More Rookie Signings

adidas_basketball_rookies

The year for adidas just keeps getting better; let’s do a quick recap: UltraBoost continues to hit, Lillard 2, alphaBounce, 2016-17 basketball shoe lineup, UltraBoost uncaged — all great — and, of course, the Kanye story. Lost in some of the hoopla was the fact adidas signed five lottery picks, including Brandon Ingram of the Lakers (and bow down to the Blue Devils!!!).

Today adidas announced that it has signed eight more rookies from this year’s class: Thon Maker of the Milwaukie Bucks, Taurean Prince of the Atlanta Hawks, Wade Baldwin of the Memphis Grizzlies, DeAndre Bembry of the Atlanta Hawks, Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Lakers, Cheick Diallo of the New Orleans Pelicans, Patrick McCaw of the Golden State Warriors, and Isaiah Cousins of the Sacramento Kings. They all join the ranks of the initial draft class highlighted by Brandon Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, Dragan Bender of the Phoenix Suns, Kris Dunn of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets.

This week, seven of the players above are in Portland at adidas HQ for a meet-and-greet including some playing around with a skills challenge involving adidas employees and some other celebrities (we see you George!!!). These players, as well as the ones not in attendance, will be involved in future product design and development as well as campaigns and promotional tours.

Keep up with the event on @adidashoops on Twitter and Instagram with #teamadidas.

adidas is poised to make noise this year and for the next few, especially with these young guns. Just remember — competition is good.

  1. This is great for Adidas. Jaylen Brown reminds me of Isiah Rider. And Thon Maker reminds me of a longer range Kevin Garnett. Rookie of the year will be Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons.
