adidas Dual Threat BB

This July we’ll see a new hoop shoe from adidas that is supposed to offer premium performance for under $100.

The adidas Dual Threat BB is a new team based model that will be available in adults and kids sizing. A segmented wavebone outsole is used – this will provide you with solid traction and flexibility – and that is used in conjunction with the adiPrene+ cushioned midsole. Synthetics are used along the upper with a TechFit sleeve and strap for optimal fit and lockdown. Most of the upper is mesh so ventilation should be adequate while break-in should be nearly non-existent.

Retail will be a mere $80, and that along with their performance features has me curious to try them out on-court. Stay tuned for updates and feel free to share your thoughts on the Dual Threat BB below in the comment section. adidas Dual Threat BB 2

  1. Ugh what is up with Adidas obsession with translucent outsoles also the traction looks like for indoor only use.

      1. Lebron 12s you can customise them to not have translucent outsole Kobe x you must have them but you have a few options. Adidas however judging from the D rose 5 customisation options you have absolutely no capability to change the look of the outsole. Also the wavebone looks skinny thin on these.

  2. How come Nike makes translucent outsoles for the Kobe X? The Kobe X’s traction is also for indoor use. No hatin’ here. LeBron 12s also use translucent outsoles. All I see is hate, not critic. Adidas is right, there will be haters.

    1. Name me a Adidas top of the line made basketball shoe that is designed for outdoor use in mind. Adidas use soft rubber hell even my and1 rockets have tougher outsoles than theirs and I am not hating on Adidas just wish they do more than release these unimpressive shoes of the assembly line also while they give you less of a selection than Nike does. I actually have more and wear more Adidas shoes than nike so please don’t start blowing the whistle and scream hater at something negative.

      1. The DRose 4 and 4.5 have the Crazyquick outsole, but with harder and more durable rubber, and deeper traction pattern.

      2. first, these are not top of the line. second, the translucent rubber depending on the depth, rubber compound used and thickness of the traction pattern of the outsole is no different than the solid color rubber pliable outsole of Nike in terms of durability. third, if you want something that is designed for long-term outdoor use that would last you years, choose an XDR outsole. 4th, I found that using translucent rubber last me a good 4-5 months of rigorous outdoor use which include lateral and straight line stops and slides, landings on a rubberized outdoor surface as much as your regular Nike solid color rubber. 5th, try using the Nike Melo 4’s with the solid black outsole and see if it would last a week of playing outdoors on a similar rubberized surface.

        5th,
the translucent outsole not for outdoor use statement is a myth and I can practically play whatever outsole color (whether solid or translucent) outdoors just fine like a TS Commanders (solid/translucent/hybrid), Rose 5 (translucent) or Rose 4.5 (solid), Lillard (Solid), Wiggins CL (Solid) as much as how much I play with my KD 5’s (solid), Sonic Flights (Solid), Kobes (both Solid and Translucent), Soldiers, Super Flys and AJ FLights (Translucent), etc….

I don’t know how you exactly use your shoes, but if you abuse and use them unnecessarily like playing them on an extremely rough and uneven hard asphalt or concrete surface, it won’t matter what brand they are, they would get destroyed prematurely.

so stop hating man and stop making false claims.

        1. Where did I claim that translucent outsoles were bad for outdoors? I said the traction looked thin and unideal for outdoor use. Also another issue with translucent outsoles is that they will end up yellowing after a period of time. Adidas don’t even provide you with a xdr outsole option so you are pretty much stuck with what Adidas provide as part of the shoe design.

if Adidas doesn’t provide as much and at a standard lower than say for example Nike (Standards on shoe sizing) then their quality is clearly lower. How is that hating than simply pointing out how bad they are and how they should improve. I think its funny how you can’t say anything negative on the internet without a brand loyal watchman calling out hater.

back to the shoe I am actually curious how these will compare to the nike prime hype or the stutter step 2

  3. For that price point, it’s tough NOT copping a pair for hooping. I’m curious about that Techfit sleeve. Also, Adidas’ recent releases seem to follow a certain pattern in terms of design. I won’t be surprised if the people behind the design of the Dual Threat BB is the same people behind the Lillard 1 and the other recent designs (Crazy Light, etc.).

I’m not sure, but are the designers for these the ones that used to work for Nike?

    1. The Nike designers (Mark Dolce, Mark Miner and Denis Dekovic? are currently being sued by Nike for ‘theft’ of designs and business documents along with a claimed $10million in damages. They are unable to work for Adidas until the law suit is cleared.

  4. Adidas has seriously eliminated Break in with most of their shoes- this is a simple build onto the Dame- the tech and color options at 80.00 is pretty amazing- appreciating they eliminate the some what sloppy fit issues with the Dame on these. I’ve seen them in person as well the Crazylight 3- Adidas is bring it 2015. I love the price point & these are sick looking in person, I expected a Dame P.O. as the pair I saw. I wil say also Damian Lillard wants his second shoe to feature Boost, unlike the J Wall. Wall also prefers courtfeel. which is why his second model is going Adi Prene. I was able to look at the materials for the Wall 2 and it is minor tweeks, this is a fantastic buy.

Yes, this is a variation and fix of the Dame, “Fit beware” & does not use the Crazyquick name, while maintaining a teamshoe, with solid tech- ideally techfit, Adi Prene plus, this is the bouncy version tech Duke describes in his review of the Dame.

I do believe the Crazylight is the only “indoor only” since 2011 that Adidas has put out. You may realize Adidas has outfitted players around the world for quite some time. Be honest, we all love sneakers- we all know each brand has quality tech that could be used in every shoe. It’s fantastic when models like the Primehype, Mentality, make it out. It’s fantastic when you buy Hyperrevs and feel Zoom being put into platy the way we all remember it- as something similiar to unlocked Zoom. It’s awesome to find brands are recognizing the price point should be lower, When the Product line produces shoes that carry just some of the technology we know would feel and look awesome over for the same price. Truely do not be troubled by a quality sneaker with less Pricepoint and more technology. It is good for the consumer & leads to more tech being applied to the signature athletes. More Tech + Less Price point non signature athlete shoes will lead to Unlocked Zoom, Boost, Flyknit, Woven Uppers- ect in more top tier shoes. Lower Price point, High Tech is what we’r all looking for. sneakers should be improving with each number added to it, not simply repeat because the basketball season does and certainly the price point should not go up because the same product is being released again a year later, sadly we’ve seen that happen consistently with Signature Shoes and Shoes being re released from when we were younger. It’s great to see more tech, less price point and I am happy this is not a Dame 1.5.

  5. $80 is a heck of a deal. the tech is good so if they are comfortable at all they’re a bargain. probably make a great team shoe

  6. I have a pair of these and i have hooped in them for about 2 months now. For the price of it, it is not bad. Although you do get what you pay for, after a couple wears I lost all most of the traction. There are some pros to this shoe though, I really liked the techfit strap because it really locked you in the shoe. Tips: don’t hoop in these shoes outside for they will wear out and “yellow”. Overall I think this shoe rates 7/10

  7. first thought on these shoes
well they look like can get the job done with the traction it look very stick and might hold up
on the midsole you have adiprene and i never played in adiprene so i dont how they will perform
the material they have a mesh layer with something else i cant tell the other materials
the ankle strap is not that impressing except the style

  8. These are basically Damian lillard ones with the same cushion system, the same tech fit ( the tech fit goes a little higher though), and the same silhouette. They are just cheaper.

  9. Hey, Nightwing2303! Did you made a performance review or first impressions vid on these?
