Buyers Guide | adidas D Rose 6 vs adidas D Rose 7

I haven’t done a versus video in over a year. Mostly due to me not feeling like doing one, but also because I never feel the shoes people request to be compared are truly comparable.

That’s where our new versus format comes from. We’ve been working on this for half a year now, and it’s finally coming together. This is just the first version which features the adidas D Rose 6 vs the adidas D Rose 7. We feel these are comparable models to one another — seeing as how they’re within the same signature line — and if we see positive results then we’ll continue to do more. Not just with shoes against their previous counterparts, but also shoes that are truly comparable.

You can get more detailed information on each shoe’s performance review:

Let us know what you think and as always, thanks for watching!!!

  1. Great idea, but the edit (cutting from graphic to graphic) is WAY too fast to process the text “blocks” that pop up for each sneaker. Had to pause in order to fully reach each one, side-by-side.

      1. I had tremondous pain in my big toenail with the D Rose 7. As soon as I put them on, then I took a few jab steps and it was quit painful. Had to return them. Funny some shoes really need to be tried on as rose 6 feels great. I also had same toe issue with D Lillard 2. Have you hewrd users mentions this toe issue on the 7s? It could be the fuse overlay creating a lack of give when counter pressure applied via toe. So my own vs. Video seems to be big toe vs. Rose 7 toe box. The toebox won unfortunately. I wanted to love these too as the traction, and cushion is amongst my favorite.

          1. Ahh OK. Thats good to hear. How many weeks we talkin? A week, 2 weeks, a month breakin? Just trying to figure how long Ill have to tape that bug toe so not to lose it. Thanks

P.S I probably avg 2 hours of play 2 times per week. Indoor courts

        1. Both my toenails turned purple wearing the D Rose 7 (size 10). I had bought them for basketball. Only used them a few times for tennis. And then played hard for about three hours on two different days a week and a half ago. Played through the pain. Toenails had never turned purple before. Painfully sore since then. A week and a half later, I’m almost recovered. Thought it was because I might have been sliding forward in the shoes. So I thought maybe I should go down a half size, even though they are my size and seem to fit right. Glad I saw your post. Thanks.

  2. Both shoes are winners!!

I think the comparison is kinda early considering the primeknit of the D Rose 7 hasn’t been reviewed,

But I guess the scores of the D Rose 6 was based on the early mesh colorway and not the Primeknit, so I guess the comparison is accurate.

    1. I reckon that’s why he didn’t put the Rose 6 primeknit version in there, because that’s been one of his favourites in the past 12 months as far as I could tell.

      1. Nightwing did state, he will compare the PK version of the 7 to PK Version of 6 when he’s able to.

  3. Hey. The video is awesome. Quick text with the pause trick. Got it. Very clean presentation.

    Now…@@@@
You don’t get answers because you ask questions that are already in the damn review you are looking at! Then you want specific personal questions answered. Like so

“My pinky toe is wider than my middle toe. Will I need to go up half a size in adidas even though they run big, but they run small on the Ultra Boost even though I don’t own the Ultra Boost and I want a Nike shoe that costs $20 bucks more than the Rose 7, but I spent all my money at Game Stop and my mom said my foot will grow next year?”

I can do this all day. You guys are dumb fks complaining about a free site.

And matt – you sound like a ho. I pray you’re under the age of 12 with your comments.

  4. Here’s my opposing opinion to your points.

    1) He often times does choose to not be a dick. Take the above interaction with Matt for example. At no point did he insult him. He merely states why he disagreed. Did he mollycoddle him and tell him everything was peachy keen? No. But was he a dick? No.

And to finally touch on a point you made towards the beginning of your post, it would make sense to respond to negative comments. Most any company will issue some sort of response when a negative story about them arises. You don’t want negative input going completely unaddressed. And in my experience, Nightwing is exceptionally good at responding to comments for his YouTube videos within the first couple hours of the video posting. Does he tail off eventually? Yes. But looking at his last video (as of right now), there is an average of a comment quicker than every 3 minutes. That would be incredibly hard to keep up with over a long period of time when the comments come that quick.

    2) This is one where I am not certain, but I don’t know how well updates would work. It just sounds like they would have to create another video/article for every performance review. When the problem is not having enough time to answer questions, I’m not sure adding more work will make it better. It may, but I am a little skeptical.

    3) As a manager at a successful retail store, i can assure the customer is not always right. Many times, is it just easier and beneficial to let them have their way? Yes, but far from all the time. If customers were always right, then stores wouldn’t have policies for things like coupon usage, price matches, returns, etc. Stores would just do whatever the customer wanted in those situations if the customer truly was always right. The fact those policies exist is proof customers are often wrong.

  5. For me having the Weartesters Website,

And to be able to read and watch shoe reviews is already a blessing and everything is for FREE, yes we are not paying them anything, and we get information that makes shoe purchasing a Breeze, THANK YOU WEARTESTERS!!

They, the Weartesters crew, all have their own lives, their own Jobs/School outside of weartesting, their own Familes, so a little RESPECT at what they do is a MUST!!

People should not get offended if some questions get unanswered, because usually some questions are already answered in the REVIEW itself, while some just needs that personal and unique decision that only YOU can make yourself,

That’s just my side, since I can’t thank them enough, and I personally feel that some people are very demanding of what they want, without looking at what others feel,

Again Thank You Very Much Weartesters and Keep up the Amazing Awesome Fantastic Incredible Reviews!!

    1. Grim, always a pleasure, Thank you for your continued support. We try our hardest to get to everything, but it’s not at all possible. And yes, people like the “personal” connect, but if people take the time to read some of the comments or comprehend the video, lot of the items, if not most, are properly addressed within the review and video. Again, we really do appreciate you coming to the site *fistbump*
I think the next review, probably should start off with me showing my receipt and how much I paid for the shoe out of my own pocket, in order to provide a performance review on something on a website that is free.*kanye shrug*. HAHa, have a good one.

  6. Hey Chris, do you agree with Jarron’s assessment that the Crazy Explosive is more plush than the Rose 6? That’s my #1 concern with my bad knees.

    1. It’s slightly more plush than the Rose 6 due to the missing StableFrame the 6 had in place. Basically an EVA shell that you had to break-in slightly before you really get that Boost feeling. I personally feel they’re close to being on par with one another, and they are both my favorite hoop shoes right now.

  7. NW did not take anyone’s ideas. He’s the OG of youtube performance sneaker reviews. Now, everyone and their grandmothers are doing performance reviews. I admit I watch other youtubers, and must say they are pretty entertaining. However, when comes to information and learning something, either the tech or history, NW and weartesters is the place to be. NW, thanks for inviting me to your home!

  8. Hell, I am probably older than everybody here, and I prefer to knock a mofo out, nevermind maturity! Lol! You know exactly why these guys are whining. You guys do not kiss nike’s ass, and some of their sycophantic legion, most likely from Niketalk, are over here trying to make you cats look bad. Screw’em, keep doing your thing.

  9. Wow. Sooooo much drama. Anyway. Really nice presentation. Only nitpick would be the cuts are a little fast. Other than that nicely done. Now to bust out the SNES and play some Street Fighter 2

  10. Thanks to some idiot we probably won’t get this again because he says nightwing copied the vs format even though he has been around longer and did it in 2011 or 2010 with the hyperdunk smh disrespectful

  11. Hi NW and Duke! This is my first time posting, I have been visiting your site “House” ever since it was called “Kicks on Court”. I just wanted to let you know that you are all doing an awesome job! I applaud you for keeping the disrespectful comments here, it purely shows how professional you all are. looking forward to your next review.

P.S to MATT/MAGS – you should be ashamed of yourselves.

    1. Matt/Mags are probably the same guy. Loser in life, lots of time, tries to expand his ego by talking big on the internet. Same story as countless other trolls.

I echo the sentiment to Nightwing and Duke. You’re doing nothing wrong. This is the internet, there will be little boys taking pot shots. Nothing new here.

      1. Oh snap, Nightwing just said you’re the same guy as Matt, huh? Well, that is just the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard. I will reiterate my statement, for those wondering about the reason behind your crusade: Loser in life, lots of time, tries to expand his ego by talking big on the internet. Now, please carry on with the replies.

  12. Wow. This is why we cant have nice things lol. Sorry NW, apparently we cant voice our opinions w/o other ppl objecting them. You are doing a service for us out of your own time. Just promise that you will consider taking the comments sections off BEFORE you consider taking down the site completely. But I dont think that will happen. Even if you may be rude at times, I wouldn’t blame you. Some ppl can be really annoying. Sometimes you can do so much for ppl and they won’t appreciate it. Just how it is. I don’t always get a reply from you but the world doesn’t revolve around me so I just gotta make estimated guesses with the info provided. Some ppl still need their hand held. But this is the case for everything. Keep doing what you do, for the ppl that actually appreciate it 🙂 thanks

  13. Great idea. I’m looking forward to something similar with the CrazyExplosive vs DRose 7. Let us know the best shoes for bad knees.
    Keep up the good work,
    Davide

    1. Sole Bros discuss that in their YouTube reviews and having owned both shoes I can also tell you a bit. It comes down to what you are looking for in a shoe. If you want speed and traction, go for the Rose, no doubt. The traction is excellent and the rubber compound is much more durable than the Crazy Explosive. The Rose is a complete shoe, the CE is more of a concept shoe.

Now, that isn’t to say that the CE doesn’t have its advantages. If they fit your properly they offer a great fit/support, nice support at the ankle and good lockdown as long as they are not prohibitively snug in the midfoot and toe box, which they are for some people apparently.

Now, is the BOOST tech the major selling point for you? Then the CE comes out on top also. Much more softness and more of the feel you’d expect having worn Boost runners. To me the softness of Boost is just decent in the Rose 7, the 6 felt softer to me and the CE is even softer than that (and by extension the Harden and Rose 5, which were just sort of Boost-y). I guess that may present some risk of bottoming out (e.g. HD 2012 and other Lunar based shoes) but the CE is not a shoe you buy to last so don’t worry about it. The rubber compound on the sole is not going to hold up any length of time. A month of outdoor play would destroy it almost for sure, maybe twice that long inside.

So if you’re willing to grab a pair cheap and not be overly attached to them, they are a great option. I think the traction is more than adequate indoors, too. They offer more a louder aesthetic and more cushioning. The Rose is a safer bet, should fit most feet (they are not as wide/long as the Rose 6 as mentioned here, definitely go true to size) and will be more durable. But if you want a shoe with wow factor, go with the CE. They are also popping up cheap now, the regular colorways around $60 some places. The PK ones haven’t reached that price yet but they will. Rose 7 is also dropping in price, could find some in the $80 range I am sure.

  14. Yes nightwing could cuddle us more I suppose
But he is damn good and dedicated with what he does.
So even if he decided to revisit the idea of vs videos so what. No ideas original sorry to disappoint folks. It’s up to you to build upon something and make it greater .

    Nightwing
    Bro don’t sweat it man.

  15. Great review! This is how a versus video should be done, it actually looks professional not like other channels with 15 minute long videos where they talk and looks like they have nothing prepared.
As for your argument with this MATT I’ll just say this: You’ve got no obligation to answer any questions from us the public, it is more than enough that you actually post these reviews as information to help us out. They can say all they want about you getting paid from likes, views, etc. but at one stage I’m sure you weren’t getting anything and it was just coming out of your pockets. This is a blog people!
Ps. 95% of the questions posted are either answered in the video already or just stupid as fuck!
Keep up the great work man!

  16. Quality over quantity, thats what puts you and KickG over SoleBros, simple as that…Not knocking them but facts are facts, so keep up the good work, fanbase recognizes the effort and knowledge you guys put forth..

Vid was cool graphically must say (as a video editor myself)..As for the whole notion of ‘vs.’ it’s kind of unnecessary since all shoes are different and have their own pros and cons, which are all very easy to understand if one read/watched the reviews of the shoes in question, but i guess people refuse to logically connect the dots either out of stupidity or laziness. KickG been a bit more savage with addressing this lately (in a hilarious way may I add), you should rip a page from their book or just ignore it completely tbh so no one can get their feelings hurt <<— cant believe i typed that

  17. In light of some of the comments above I just thought I’d drop a line and let you know how much I appreciate what you and the WT crew do!

I don’t comment frequently but WT is one of the first sites I check once I get home each day and I’m always grateful for the work you put in to allow us to make the best purchasing decisions. Keep on keeping on!

  18. Also would like to just take a minute to say thank you, since discovering this site last year I don’t take a shit without checking out a couple performance reviews. It’s seriously influenced the last 5 ball shoes i got and I really appreciate that since I (and I’m guessing most of us here) don’t have money to blow on dud shoes or shoes that just don’t fit our wants and needs and you guys break the down perfectly. Nobody ever hates on anybody doing anything average so keep up the good work.

  19. Reading the comments really ups the ante on this site. The crybaby that was not noticed and started to cry now trying to throw some shades on the people that he so called “supports” and has been a “fan off”. Its like a guy trying to complain yet buying the freakin product anyway. I am in the customer service industry and I must say I disagree with customer’s being right, I completely disagree to that! The customers have rights but crybaby please don’t abuse them.

  20. Yeah, you got a PhD, and you’re trying to talk smack on the internet over some shoes. Gotcha, slick.

  21. To MAG, coming from someone who’s owned a business, I can tell you that “customer is always right” stuff is a bunch of BS. You’re the exact kind of entitled customer that would not be welcome at my business. Also, what was the point of flaunting your Phd? Is that suppose to make you seem more respectable or something, because all it did was make you come across as a pompous douche.

To the Weartester team, thank you for being so instrumental in bringing a newbie like me up to speed with the performance basketball shoe scene. Your reviews and insights are always well structured and to the point. Keep up the great work and keep up those collab efforts with BrandBlack!

  22. I’m so distracted by the 6+7 fusion pic for the article. Makes for a cool looking shoe.

As for the vid, it’s actually nicely done, but to save you trouble (aside from using it as an exercise in editing), the information relayed could’ve been delivered in a single picture/graphic. Otherwise, I think the one thing missing is laying out the relative comparisons (s aofter/firmer/lighter/narrower, etc)*. I know you provided links to the more detailed reviews in your original post, but some prominent quick points could result in video that gets the comparison done standalone.

I actually like that it’s straightforward and brief, though. As you mentioned, there’s shopping convenience in mind. Sometimes I stream a vid and listen through an earpiece when I’m at a shoe store to make sure I got sizing down.

On that shopping note, only other thing I’d mention is the smaller text is unreadable on a phone. I can’t zoom in on that.

  23. LOL! Wth? NW and team, I know ypu guys see my comments and I always appreciate the reply and when I don’t get one, I still love the fact that I have a platform like this where even we, the viewers, can reply to one another to help each other out. I don’t know whats going on with buddy up there but keep doing your thing everyone on the WT team. I’ve been following since the original hyperfuse and remember getting hooked. I always enjoy the reviews whether I buy the products or not. Respect.

    -Trezz aka Dmarr

    1. +1. When your your big, your going to have haters. NW and Weartesters crew always do great work here and it’s ALWAYS APPRECIATED! That other dude belongs on N!KEtalk.

    2. Trezz, stop…you get replies! Now you’re just getting antsy LOL HAHAHA just kidding my dude, it’s always appreciative.
Again, lot of people who ask advice, we try to answer, But Like BBALLER below said, people have to at least try to make an effort and go “TRY ON THE ACTUAL SHOE” in store (barring that they have it available). Everyone’s foot is shaped differently, so not all shoes fit everyone’s mold. Hence, why we do multiple reviews on shoes from different perspectives. Gives a wider variety of thought to make the end-user experience much more gratifying and hopefully helpful. Thanks for the support *fistbump*

      1. LOL!!! Absolutely bro. You guys actually reply to a lot of stuff on multiple platforms. Always respect from me.

  24. Man, this is the best website of performance basketball shoes after Prof.K stopped doing kicks review. I enjoy every video you guys put on, especially you can have different perspective for the same shoe. Although sometimes I still have some questions after watching reviews, I’d rather go to the store and try shoes on myself than ask questions here. The reason why is that everyone is different so even if I get reply from you guys, I still have to judge on my own at the end. Perhaps the question won’t be the question to others while your team say so. Anyway, I truly appreciate for what you guys are doing. All reviews are useful and helpful for me to have a detail understanding before choosing a new bad ass on court.

Go guys and you have my supportive from Taiwan.

  25. Nice video. Hope that adidas takes a cue on tour video thumbnail. The combination of the 6 and the 7 is a primed beast mode basketball shoe.

  26. Slick presentation and I like the video as an introduction to a comparison, sort of a primer that organizes the info that’s already present. But that’s just the thing. I could easily pull up the 6 review in one window and the 7 in the other and have the same information (actually more). Typically a comparison would be more substantive in the differences between the shoes and their details. Sole Bros did a 6/7 comparison somewhat casually in their review of the 7 that told me a lot more about the contrasts between the two shoes.
