adidas D Rose 5 Boost ‘Christmas’

Could we be in for another Nightmare themed Christmas series from adidas?

Looks that way if these are actually from their upcoming Christmas pack. The upper here reminds me of Jack Skeleton’s pinstriped suit & the outsole looks to be a glow in the dark translucent as well. No official word on this being the actual Christmas edition, at this point its just speculation, but its definitely possible.

What do you guys think; Buy or sell?

  1. Oh man, these are beautiful, this is how the kd7 bhm blocking/pattern should look. This is black and white done right.

    1. i know – i must totally be missing it unless these are Jack Skelington’s go to Bone covers – these are FUGLY. i am sure i am on my own here but the Best D Rose.nberg model to date was a team model TS creator. NOW The J WALL 1 is a nice hoopin shoe so i hope his model gets the extra touches for colorways etc and must be seen in person to judge because the photo’s look dopey.

    1. I think nike already normally hits the christmas feel so Adidas goes opposite with the nightmare before Christmas typa feel

  2. as a big nightmare before Christmas fan I would definitely buy these despite not being overly fond of the Adidas line these really do look very cool.

    1. The shoe wasn’t design to “help” D Rose. He simply plays in an extremely athletic manner and it has taken a toll on his body.

      1. it’s far from a dumbass comment setting as how that dude can’t walk acrossthe street without getting hurt. I’ve never seen a more injury prone player. and yes the shoes absolutely matter. If it. didn’t everyone would stil.be in keds and chucks.

        1. please do yourself a favor of not to continue to embarrassing yourself. sticking to your flawed logic or continue defending it does not make up for your mistake nor does it make you look any better and a futile attempt to twist logic.

          1. Bob you are just a straight dumbass, most injury prone player youve ever seen? You must not watch much basketball. In his first 3 years he missed 3 games then he suffered 2 injuries that both happened to be season ending, so if that makes someone injury prone for having two injuries than everyone is, because there have been about 6 ankle sprains that have resulted in players missing games. He then tweaked his hamstring which is another thing that will come with playing pro. So before you post dumbass comments maybe you should do some research. And another thing rose tapes his ankles and wears ankle braces along with his high tops, if your ankle turns a certain way its spraining no matter what. Use your brain hater

          2. I been visiting nw for about 6-7 years now and honestly, I never thought I’d.be attacked.fir a fact basedcomment

          3. Dame, Tony Allen, and Patrick Beverly have worn/are currently wearing Rose models. Where are the injuries? Sorry dude, but fact is shoes don’t cause injuries, playing with reckless abandon does. And nobody was constantly tearing their knees back the Chuck Taylor days because nobody was a high flyer back then. Tape don’t lie.

    2. Bob from hydra stick to your opinion and never mind the name calling. Some might not agree, but I see immaturity where others are taking this. Now to the issue you speak of, I saw Rose’s last injury and his left foot looked like it just gave way on his drive. It could’ve been sweat on the court, but it made the traction look suspect as there wasn’t any player contact like when he landed on Kyrie’s foot and sprained his right ankle. There is just way too much misfortune coming towards the guy and he’s fast becoming Mr. Glass of the NBA. People will naturally search for a reason of why such things happen consistently.

        1. Not at all? He can’t stay healthy so how is it a “Not at all” situation? I’m not poking fun at all. I feel bad for the guy but he is becoming what he is becoming. “Not at all” implies that there’s no chance that the statement could have any truth. I implore you to look at his games played lately. I feel beyond bad for the dude because much of his skill was centered around his athleticism.

          1. True and was exactly what I was getting at.

Jay Jay I own the shoes too, but fact remains that he still slipped in HIS pair without any incidental contact. I gave the situation the benefit of the doubt by saying maybe he hit a sweat spot on the floor. Also I felt a sharp pain in my knee from a very hard takeoff plant in my Rose 3.5s a couple of months ago. Some people need more cushion, than they need court feel etc.

          2. Dime slinger It appeared to me that his leg just gave out because of the speed he was going but I’d rather it be the traction then just him giving out ha
And trezz he has suffered two injuries like I said , so how does that say he can’t stay healthy?? Ankle sprains and hamstring pulls are apart of the game so saying he can’t stay healthy makes no sense at all.

          3. If that’s the case then curry,Westbrook, kyrie, wall, Bledsoe and many others are all injury prone an that’s not the case because they all suffered multiple injuries that kept them out for small periods constantly or larger injuries longer much like roses two. 3 missed games for rose in 3 years and then 2 serious injuries that have nothing to do with durability just freak accidents

  3. This is totally unrelated but what balls are you guys using for outdoor play? I’ve started playing again and I’ve been using a Spalding Never Flat. It just feels “off” to me. Almost like its too light. I was looking at the Nike Elite Championship 8-Panel but it appears to be for indoor use only. For an inexpensive option I was also looking at the Spalding Zi/O EXCEL. I think that might be what I used in the past. Any recommendations?

    1. You can try Molten, as it has different variety from indoor play to outdoor play or both. I’ve been using mine (Molten GM7) for about 6 months outdoors with at least 2-3 hours of play and it is holding up pretty well.

        1. i’ve been using the jordan hyper grip, it’s a tiny bit on the heavy side, but otherwise it feels excellent, really plush for the price…usually jordan balls are horrible, but i really recommend this one.

otherwise everybody uses nike competition balls here in hong kong, not sure why, but it seems like i’ve been playing with that ball my whole life

in my experience spaldings, besides the official nba ball, tend to feel strange, and they’ve put out some really silly gimmicks…i HATE the pure tack, for instance….

    2. I had been looking for reviews on basketballs as well but there isn’t much I can get from the net. So I ended up purchasing 3 balls in different occasions. I play on smooth painted outdoor courts and the regular road-type conditions court (those that when you slip, say hello to wounds and bruises).

For Molten, it’s already mentioned that GM7 is good especially for its price. Right now though, I personally prefer GG7. Soft but responsive, great grip, dirt will be there but wipe it off then it’s good as new. On the downside, I find my hands accumulating the most dirt when using this compared to others but that’s easy to take care of.

Nike Hypergrip is at best decent. Great pattern feel but I just find it a little too hard especially on the catches or rebounds, more like catching a rock sometimes. “Pass me the rock” will have a literal meaning. And dust will be an issue. I now use this on road-type courts just to see if it will soften up.

On to Spalding, there is this David Stern Indoor/Outdoor Game Ball Series ball that just, melts into your hand. It’s like my grip is dreamy but firm. It’s that good. Response, feel, grip, everything. I just don’t prefer using these all the time because at $65-70 (more than the average ball price), I feel like every bounce is like $1 off my pocket. But it’s good if price does not matter. I also just want to put this out there, that I had a good Spalding ball model that gave out on its panels before, curling outwards.

      1. Do you know the name of the Spalding David Stern ball? The only one I see is the official game ball that’s indoor only when I google “David Stern Indoor/Outdoor Game Ball”.

    3. SPALDING TF1000 is allways Legit. BUT wherever you play you better get the same ball as those guys because when its game time you need to be ready becaus ethe Ball matters and you need to be familiar with it. try playing with an NBA leather ball and it takes nearly 3 months to break that thing in.

    1. Rose is going to be in for the long run. 10 games into the year I’m actually happy theyr being precautious. If not for the comments about longevity in his career and longevity in his life and hating being sore and then NBA press making multiple comments.

  4. If you look at the laces they r the same as the old nightmare 3s, so yes these look to be the nightmare remake

  5. Fresh and Different! Adidas should release these as a casual wear and hooping shoe. If Boost is as durable as we’ve heard then it would be a fresh clean casual shoe, and a beast on the court. ^-^ Imo would be cool to throw out some 4.0 style shoes with the half and half color, keep the boost, throw the 3 stripes on a few pairs or give the 3 stripe back with the Rose logo on tonge. Adidas should really get all the different color’s of the Rose logo onto Miaddidas and all of the options to go with it. The shoe is selling crazy well around Memphis, compared to last years vs Lebron/ Durant/ Melo it’s pretty amazing. I’ll have to say Adidas is making a shoe that is doing very well with the “Nike Crowd”. It looks like Chicago is definately doing its best to keep D Rose in the garage and keep the scratches off him. It would be nice if he wasn’t making comments the week of garage kept days.

  6. oh + yes would definately cop it and wear it around campus and then drill a game after class. #Classy Adi+5.0

  7. i don’t think that’s the Christmas color way. i hope they release nightmare before Christmas this year. they should bring it back!

  8. I want these. They do look like a nightmare Christmas shoe and with an outsole that glows they will look even better in more pictures. I think they release December 12th but not 100%.

  9. Nightwing have you seen all the new way of wade shoes they have now for lower prices on hibasketball.they have about 4 different team shoes.the all city, fission, the all in team. Can you test these to see if they are any good compare to the actual way of wade.they are only $99.99 for the most part.

  10. So Bob, you’ve been watching rose walk across the steet have you? And since you’re following nightwing’s site, you probably didn’t catch his own comments on how the shoes you wear don’t cause the injuries you acquire while playing sports. And I’m guessing you’re one of those stand in one spot guys and shoot with no real effort at all types huh.

  11. They might be the Christmas edition, but I still think the “Nightmare before Christmas” from the Adidas Rose 3 are way better looking than these…IMO
