adidas Crazy Explosive 2017 and Crazy Explosive 2017 Primeknit Colorways Surface

adidas crazy explosive 2017 primeknit 3

After the insane success adidas Basketball experienced in the 2016-2017 season, especially the Crazy Explosive and Crazylight Boost, which made most reviewers’ Top 10 lists for the year, it was only right to expect big things this coming season. It looks like we won’t be disappointed.

Here is what appears to be the Crazy Explosive 2017. Being of sound mind and body, we can safely say…BAM! adidas kept what worked — the Boost midsole, infinity shank, and the Primeknit upper (on the Primeknit colorways). What has changed? The ankle collar looks sleeker and more form fitting while the mesh versions have a seriously contoured upper. (In case you can’t tell, the white version and the red pair are the Primeknit.)

There is no official word yet confirming these sneakers as authentic, but these images give us a good idea of what to expect when the Three Stripes official unveils the shoes. There is also no word on price yet, but last year’s models were priced accordingly: $120 for the neoprene/mesh and $140-$150 for the Primeknit.

Let us know if you think the adidas Crazy Explosive 2017 will blow up like the 2016.

    1. The Wiggins model had his name there. Looked clean as well. Overall design is, aesthetically, I think pretty thoughtful and it works, more so than the quirkier CE2016 did. On comfort and performance though? 2016 all the way

  1. The forefoot cushioning is awful. Paper-thin. Burns through after playing for any length of time. I noticed Jamal Crawford tried them for about a week late this season, then ditched them, reverted to what he wore before. I wonder why?

Not sure how so many are playing with them without discomfort — maybe they found better in-soles? Better socks? Whatever it is, they’re amazing shoes, but damn it they kill the forefoot. (remove paper-thing insole, hold them up to the light — you can see right through)

    1. Disclaimer because I personally haven’t tried the CE, but given what just about everyone else has said I think something is wrong with your pair. The insole really only provides step-in comfort, it shouldn’t be the focus of the cushioning. As for being able to see it through the light, that’s the nature of boost. My energy boost 2.0 which have thick boost in the heel still show light through if you put an LED light up to it.

Jamal Crawford only recently became an adidas sponsored athlete, so he’s likely still trying out different pairs and gave them a run. Doubt it has anything to do with a thin forefoot, ESPECIALLY if he is rocking the old Crazylight Boost 2014 which doesn’t even have boost in the forefoot.

      1. No its not just his pair you can see through the forefoot outsole in. Mine are like like that! Also, I’ve seen reviews and posts online of other people showing the thin see through forefoot. The boost in the forefoot is carved out for court feel but I think they made it too thin when they did it.

      2. psst! That is the Nike boiler room working overtime. They are pissed that the weartesters team is honest about Nike product, they cannot control content here. So they will pop up from time to time to say crazy shit about all other product. Pay that no attention. That’s right, I am Coach Hubie, and I know the deal.

        1. What are you talking about?! I love my ce’s and play any brand shoes that perform I am just stating my own experience. I put some insoles that are a little thicker in them and they are better now but you don’t speak for weartesters obviously because they speak honest about all brands based on their experiences and observations whether it be Nike or a brand like brandblack, last I checked they weren’t anti Nike either.

      1. Not sure what part you meant is April fools but based on these photos ill be getting the non primeknit myself not being a fan of the whole compression sock setup. I am hoping Adidas releases a lot of options with solid outsoles as well. Someone also commented on here about the upper possibly being too thick compared to last years ce and that makes me wonder how heavy these will be too. I have the black pk mid version and they aren’t too heavy but I wouldn’t want them any heavier being a smaller guard myself.

  2. The mesh version this year looks great probably not getting a low version because these are like a mid to low already can’t wait to see the crazy light boost 2017

  3. why the hell the same outsole? the one weak part of the original is the thing they keep the same. what a shame bc it looks like a killer shoe. I’m hoping they altered the rubber compound or something to perfect that traction pattern. if possible

  4. Now I know what my bball shoe for next season is… Unless another brand comes out with a better shoe, which I don’t think will happen

  5. I don’t think the 2017 PK version is an upgrade to the 2016 shoe other than the fifth lace loop. The pics suggest that they removed the geofit foam around the ankle. This socklike design around the ankle does nothing for me.
I guess i will be getting the neopren version this time around. I like the traditional tongue design.
I also like the outsole tractionwise but it is really time to introduce some continental rubber to the Crazy Explosive line but i guess the soft rubber helps to sell more shoes..

    1. Double_A do you have an email I can reach you at?
To your comment: We don’t yet know how much or little this possible CE2017 is an update to the CE2016 because nothing is official yet.

  6. Its almost the same, but aesthetically it looks better. I’m a bit concerned about the upper being thicker. I liked how thin, stretchy, and light the non-pk was on the original. Hope this has some stretch, at least.

They should really address outsole durability since that was the one huge negative from the last one. It could be as simple as making more solid outsole cws.

  7. If I had any talent with textiles I’d tear the outsole off these, cut a little slot in the forefoot and drop a small zoom cushion in there, then glue on some Kyrie outsoles.

Now that would be a beast shoe
